HLA-NOVR-Script
NO VR Script for Half-Life: Alyx
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Installation
Copy the game folder into your main Half-Life: Alyx installation C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life Alyxreplacing existing files.
Playing
Simply add -novr -vsync to the launch options on Steam and start the game.
Controls
Keyboard and Mouse
Left Click: Select in Main Menu/Throw Held Object/Primary Attack
W, A, S, D: Move
Space: Jump
Ctrl: Crouch
Shift: Sprint
Right Mouse Button: Secondary Weapon Upgrade
Middle Mouse Button: Tertiary Weapon Upgrade
E: Interact/Pick Up Object Using Gravity Gloves
F: Flashlight (Once you get it in Chapter 2 - The Quarantine Zone)
H: Cover your Mouth (Chapter 7 - Jeff)
F5: Quick Save
F9: Quick Load
M: Main Menu
P: Pause
V: noclip (If you get stuck on geometry or due to bugs etc)
I hope the game doesn't crash whenever I press M, cause that happened in to me in the previous update.

It still crashes when I press M, but I think that may have been because I haven't downloaded the most recent github version yet.
can we change cover mouth to something else? H is too far from WASD and its unconfortable to use when playing. how about the X key?
I mean, that's the entire reason we chose H 😂
But yeah, you can just open the novr.lua script and look for "bind h" and replace h with whatever button you want.

I can't answer Eli's call, right at the beginning, when I press the E key.
You either forgot to put the launch options or copied the filed incorrectly.
You gotta press precisely on a button.
Is there any Graphics settings in configs of the game?
Yes the main menu has a graphics settings section to adjust for your system specs.

Any idea if this will allow the game to run on lower specs than listed on steam.
My machine is ever so slightly lower than minimum specs I think 6gb instead of 8gb ram on the graphics card or something like that.
My understanding is that VR games require a higher minimum refresh rate in order to stop people feeling sick, as well as having to render the environment twice. so thought maybe there’s a chance that without these it might bring down the performance needs.

Even though I own a VR I enjoy FPS games with classic control schemes, so I downloaded but I can't pick up objects, like before having gravity gloves when Russell asks us to pick up an object that represents us. How do we do that?

What a great mod, Seriously well done. Wanted to play this for years.
Is there a way of making the crosshair more noticeable?
Can you add the fake hands? When Alyx has a gun, it doesn't look right just hanging there.

I can't use the lever
So there's graphics settings in the main menu but no Pause menu settings? Cerain settings preferences are greyed out in the main menu and says "Can only be accessed in the Pause menu while in-game" but the Pause menu with P just brings up a Paused screen with no extra options.
I was looking to adjust the FOV under there for example. As it's way too high for me by default it looks like. Also mouse sensitivity is way too low for me by default.
Any way to access the options and change these two?
