Mortarty is right, you can do it over the filesystem too but the unable to spawn fix is a good one for Operation Hydra, Operation Phoenix, Operation Smokescreen, Town Strike.
And also the new Oil Platform, Oil Rig Assault, CP Abadan are good work.
I appreciate that you still work on it and hope that Shark will setup a coop server on Lost-Soldiers soonest the mapchange crash is fixed.
One day we all play together online and enjoy the variety of this mod.
To my knowledge the map crash bug was fixed in v1.8

Does that mean that it's possible to have different amounts of ai on different map sizes with the same map?
E.g.
Karkand SP16 with 20 bots
Karkand SP32 with 40 bots
Karkand SP64 with 60 bots
If that's possible, I'd really like to know how to do it for my own personal mod.

You need to create a duplicate map for each map size like I did on AIX Refinery in this patch. Adding the code Mortarty shared to the bottom of the Ai file in each map should do what you're wanting. I used the level renamer application to create duplicate maps
