FCAM (FarCry Addon Mod) 1.89 Adds, fixes, enhances and improves FarCry! Not much more to say. The detail is in the Readme file. Install to your FarCry MAIN directory! Lastly, Enjoy :)
it aint working :| installer verification fail
Try the ModDB mirror. There seems to be a problem with the Filefront one. Working on it...
Hi Garcy thanks for this cool mod, but i have one problem with it, i have installed your mod on a fresh install farcry , the patch install good, i setting my game and i begin a solo campaign but when i want climb up the first ladder in the little tutorial in the begining, the game stop immediatly and i come back in Windows , i retry twice and same thing, and no error dialog box. i don't know if it's a bug and one thing i setup farcry in french language maybe it's the problem, i will try with the english audio language.
try installing the 1.4 cumulative patch 1st see if that helps
Same thing with the english audio, come back in windows, when i want climb up the first ladder of the game , when i up my head, the game crash.
I downloaded from the Mod DB #2 FCAM install verification failed, but only the second time I went to install FCAM (first Install was removed because I forgot to delete old FCAM files from MOD folder). Trying the main Mirror now.
Maybe Zip the installer to ensure a better transfer?
OMG, it's here!!
That sound bug i have never seen of before...Make sure it isnt a driver or DirectX thing.
I will be fixing the problem, just need some time.
Kato-yuen, thanks for downloading.
How to fix on-ladder crash? You said you have installed the mod on FRESH INSTALL FAR CRY. The game code of fresh install mismatches with ladder code in FCAM mod (different versions)! Please patch the Far Cry to at least version 1.32, or better to 1.4 to avoid this bug.
Do the enhancements in FCAM 1.5 cause a significant Frame rate drop?
2009_06_09_FCAM.exe from the USA/Texas mirror worked fine on 2nd try.
Mixer has informed me how to avoid the on ladder crash.
I need someone to test if it works fine on a 1.4 version install. Thanks.
The enhancements in FCAM improve FPS! :)
Thanks, i will however update all downloads with a .rar so it will not cause curruption on transfer. Inside the .rar will be the .exe.'
Garcy, i have intalled the cumulative patch 1.4 on farcry and after your patch and the game works fine no crash with the ladder, sorry i believe the fcmod patch have the cumulative patch 1.4 inside, thanks Mix3r and Garcy. Farcry never die.
Thanks for testing!
Has anybody tried this with the Steam version of the game? when I start the game the mod is clearly not starting, it looks just as before (good, but short draw distance), then I tried the FCAM executable and when I click play (Far Cry) it gives me this error:
The system cannot find the file specified (it never says what file it is) and then a very long error showing exception text and other things, tried to post the whole error log here but there's a limit of 2000 characters on the comments so yeah.
Okay, turns out the problem was that even though I told the installer to install to the MAIN Far Cry folder, it still made a separate Far Cry folder where the "mods" folder is, I also never used mods with Far Cry before so I didn't know it was one of those games that already had an entry for mods in the main menu.
So I moved the "mods" folder to the main game folder and deleted the extra (and now empty) Far Cry folder and then the game detected it on the main menu.
I loaded it and tried to load one of my checkpoints, but after completely loading the bar the game froze and there was no way I could close it or minimize it so I had to turn off my computer and restart it.
After that I backed up my checkpoints and checked again this time with a new game, the game loaded but the mod doesn't seem to be loaded at all (yes, I loaded it from the main menu, "mods") since the graphics still look exactly the same, the AI acts the same and the draw distance is still the same...
What am I doing wrong? can anybody help please? I would really appreciate it since I really would like a longer draw distance!
It might still be a folder issue it could also be a Steam issue...
Try launching it from inside the mods folder (there is a "Start FCAM.bat" file of some sort, try that.
Also, its best to have the latest version. It has a 2nd version line that will tell you if you have loaded it properly...
Might I suggest to include a small readme file with some basic installation instructions and advices about ingame settings?
Also, every time I start the game I must select your mod and then restart it. Is it normal?
Yes proper documentation is lacking a little this has been fixed a bit with 1.51 but not a great deal.
It is normal if at first you stary normal FarCry, because then you have to select my mod which requires restart. You can use the short cuts in the FCAM folder which saves the restart. :)
Okay, thanks for your reply, garcy.
I wanted to ask you another question: does the difficulty level settings still have the same effect on the game when playing with your Mod?
What I mean is: I'd like to receive the upgraded AI but I don't like to have enemies be too strong (biffed HPs, extraordinary aim and dealing more damage). What settings would you suggest in this case, considering that I would never again play this game without your mod? :-)
Thanks and keep up the great work with your team!
Its the same with my mod.
The better Ai just means they do things a little smarter and prone. It shouldnt really make a difference. Just play on what you did before :)
Cheers & Enjoy
I have been playing quite much but I must unfortunately report serious bugs (which I think were present also in the unmodded game). I start with a minor one: the AI for enemies driving vehicle is really too poor: enemies are scripted poorly; they drive jeeps in the water and boats ashore too often to be believable.
Instead about the critical ones (Rebellion, Archive) : sometimes I kill an enemy that disappear but the body stays there like if he was still alive either in an endless loop of animation or just standing. Also, the helicopter with Richard Crow in never takes off and when I come closer it is indestructable, with the script all locked up (Crowe is inside and does nothing, so does the helicopter).
Are any of these issues known to you?
The Jeeps and Boats is a usual one. But does it happen more in my mod than in FarCry??
The killing an enemy and he still stays there is also another typical bug, does it happen more in my mod?
I think the Crowe one is from my mod... I will look into all of these! :) Thanks!
Also, you you supply me with a log file? type (\log_verbosity 8) into the console before you play :)
No, I don't think that those bugs happen more often with your mod installed. I had just hoped to not see them again because one of them (killed enemy still staying there) is rather critical, in my opinion.
About the log file, I never used the console for anything but I'll give it a try. Should I do that before starting my latest saved game or rather replay those levels where those bugs I mentioned occurred?
Also, a suggestion for future implementation. The autosaving system honestly sucks to no end. Wouldn't it be possible to change it into something tradtional (save at will from menu)?
Thanks and keep it up!
Well thats good. So the buges are:
-Dumb AI in boats and cars.
-Sometimes body is alive after AI dead.
-Crowe doesnt take off.
BTW, does crowe not taking off not allow you from going further into the game?
Also, its best you did it from the beginning of the level as i dont want you to have to do it twice over :)
And, thanks heeps for your SP testing! Saves me a lot of time! :)
That idea is very good btw, i will add it to the list of things to do eventually. If you know anyone good with LUA make sure you mention this mod, we are in need of some help.
You have nailed down the bugs, yes!
Crowe not taking off doesn't stop me from proceeding further into the game.
I am going to start the log and replay the levels where those bugs occurred and then I will let you know.
Keep it up!
Well, I replayed the level where Crowe is waiting on the helicopter and now, the helicopter left when I approached. I believe that is the correct behaviour? I started the log, which is 664 KBs in size. Do you want it (if so, to what address should I send it?), even if this time everything went smoothly?
Also, I'd be more than happy to test beta versions of your FCAM for single player gaming.
Yeh it maybe just a typical FarCry bug... send it anyway my email is:
I will keep that in mind, you seem to have a good eye for that. Thanks mate :)
Does anybody know how I can get this mod to work with the steam version of Far Cry?
I dont know of a way... I never use steam.
Just got the cheap bundle of Far Cry and updated to 1.4 to find this mod of yours is necessary to play to full enjoyment. Mainly the shooting through tents is the part that is really getting to me.
So thanks heaps and I'm glad the community fixed up the problems that the developers left.
Mixer and I both thank you for your kinda words :)
They are well deserved as you have both done an awesome job.
I am not too far into the game and have just blown up the generator in the Fort/Bunker and glided down to the next area.
After getting through a bit of the jungle I have come up to some more tents and am finding the mercs can see and shoot me through the tents again (under the 'Pier' saves).
This seemed to be fixed at the first set of tents in the game, with your mod, but it doesn't seem to be working at these tents.
I don't know if you are still working on this mod since you are probably more interested in Far Cry 2 now, but I thought I'd let you know about that problem.
No i actually didnt know about that, thats something to put on the list.
Nope i will never move from FarCry and i have no interest in FarCry 2.
Also, a 1.6 version is being worked on :)
Sounds good :) I'll definitely keep checking up for your release of the new version (roughly, how soon will it be ready?)
Any reason why you aren't interested in FarCry 2? I'm thinking of getting it since I enjoyed the first so much.
I have just completed the entire game and have gone through and completed it without the mod and can say the mod really makes FarCry SO much better, so a BIG thanks.
Since you are updating your mod, I thought I'd give a couple of suggestions I think would add to the enjoyment (will have to make two posts due to the character limit) :
- Not being able to shoot above water at all (while in it) was really annoying. I can understand heavy weapons or sniping, but un-focused shooting with a pistol or an automatic rifle should be possible. Treading water and not being able to fire while you have enemies raining hell on you is plain stupidity.
- The stealth factor to the game is useless. Bushes and grass don't seem to hinder npcs line-of-sight at all, and they can detect you even while you are hiding behind some objects they can't see/shoot through. They can also hear you moving quietly in other rooms while you are jogging even when you can't hear yourself. You should be able to get within a reasonable distance before you need to crawl up to them.
They can see you with their eyes at over 1km away in the open when you can't see them without a scope.
I gave up on stealth kills ( except for sniping from a distance away, which I loved) and just took cover then doing I-Am-Legend-style instead (and with the amount of enemies, in reality, you'd be crazy not to stealth-kill as much as possible).
The last of my suggestions/thoughts:
- The necessity for saving would be a huge factor in my opinion, I think it is a low priority on your list? I found it extremely frustrating not being able to save at points I preferred, especially if I get a checkpoint and then realise I need to run back and grab some ammo, then I have to re-do that every time I mess up. Keep the auto-saves/checkpoints though.
- I found grenade launchers/grenades/rocket launchers just plain suck. It usually takes 4 launched grenade shells or 2 grenades to kill someone whereas they should instantly kill anyone within range. Rocket launchers aren't too bad, considering how pathetic the others are, but a Fat Boy really shouldn't take 4 rockets to kill. Realistically, you'd have Fat Boy splattered everywhere from 1, but for FarCry - 2 would be better, I'd rather shoot him than try to hit him with 4 rockets.
You definatly make some good points there. The save point is a low priority only because its a feature to add and not a bug fix, or a bug fixing feature sort of thing.
I havnt heard from Mixer for a while now, hes been around just hasnt answered my PMs, so im not sure when the next release should be. Though, there isnt much left to do so should be soon enough...
I will try to check what you have said out and find a solution without chaning the game too much (the aim of the mod :) ) and will let you know :)
So thanks for your suggestions i will definatly take them into consideration.
Also, thanks for your kind words :)
This is a really great mod! Better graphics, better game play (I love the single shot option for the AG36 & OICW)
Server-menu, bots (over text command) and other nice multi player options.
My only wish for improvement would be a merge of FC AC and FC AM and of course lots of Xtra weapons and vehicles!
Thanks heeps! Mixer and I are grateful.
Wait for 1.6, this will be even better :)
Also, its best the mods stay un-merged. Darooz will be re-doing all textures and with Mixer already on scripts, this will soon become one mean mod! :)
can i get some clarification on this mod please.
to install it i need the offical 1.4 patch first? and then install yours?
i am on windows 7 64bit can i install those amd64 patches before or after this one.
i only say this because my mouse doesnt work the "look around", everything worked before i installed your mod , now i can only move forwards and backwards is this a bug or is something else.
i have spent most of the evening trying to get farcry to work with all of the 64bit stuff with hdr and hi rez textures but to no avail.criss crossing over via 3 diiferent websites gets confusing as there is no clear and concise instructions on how to install all of the patches..
any assisstance would be most gratefull... many thanks
To play this MOD (patch for the actual game, not out yet :) ) just install the cumlative 1.4 patch then this mod :)
I dont know if the AMD64 patches will work with this mod, but may i suggest you dont use them as FCAM 2.0 will be released later and will contain all new textures by Darooz that will smash AMD64 :)
That bug is actually with FarCry Patch 1.4 and can be fixed by resetting your controls to default, then changing them to what you want :) This is fixed in patch 1.5 by Mixer and myself :)
Hope this helped :)
thanks again man , when i get a chance i will try it.
My pleasure :)
I got tears in my eyes... It's finally here. Garcy I friggin love you.
FCAM 1.7... Huh, wait. Weren't there 1.6 few days ago... Are you guys some kind of machines?
Haha, thanks :P We try.
Just download the patch this time :)
Also, soon there should be a 1.71 ;) But only in patch form.
The installer for this mod is broken as hell, I tried every single mirror and server on moddb, All the files it tries to install is corrupted, I keep getting the same message "Error opening fire for writing: Click Abort to stop the installation,
Retry to try again, or
Ignore to skip this file" And before you ask, My system specs are windows 7 64bit, NO STEAM, STRAIGHT OUT THE BOX DVD,Patched all the way to 1.4 using the culminitive patch, How in the hell am i going to play this mod when i can't even install it! And like i said before i tried ALL THE DOWNLOAD SERVER'S, All of the moddb links and hell i even tried the filefront server, Any advice would be helpful.
Please comment in one place only.
Sorry I goofed up, I didn't know i posted in two places
Thats ok mate, hoped i helped.
Do you use any download managers? Try to d-load without it. From my experience using DM ends up with d-loading corrupted files. If this wont help try do d-load on the next day. Server overload may also result in corrupted d-loads, check if download server is at least at 65 % of capacity.
