Will that work with Steam on Linux?
There are no Linux specific binaries in the package and it has not been tested on Linux, so probably not.
That said I don't know how Source works with various compatibility layers that are available.
Yes, i see. Your package provides server.dll and client.dll which should be server.so and client.so in my case. I can try to compile it in Linux, of course given that you want to/ shared your source code somewhere.
The EX source code is not public. I might be willing to share it with you if:
a) I trusted you (anonymous guest account)
b) I thought you could actually do what you are suggesting (need to see examples of previous C++ work on linux and in Source)
Hi ChromeAngel
Sorry for the anonymous account. I am a registered user but, somehow forgot to log in before writing the comment:) Honestly, I don't have too much experience with C++ development - therefore nothing to show you :( but I have some hands-on experience with Java and Python. I also know how to compile source code and prepare the necessary packages.
Valve provides a detailed guide about compiling Source SDK code; Developer.valvesoftware.com
..which I guess should be applicable your work, if your code doesn't have too many Windows specific Platform dependencies.
Currently, I am maintaining some packages for Arch Linux - primarily the wine package to play StarCraft 1.18.x
Aur.archlinux.org
as unfortunately, neither the official wine release nor the wine-staging has the necessary patches to play the game.
Anyway, I am really tired of tinkering with wine to play the games, therefore, I am trying to reach modders and game devs for possible options to release Linux native games. And being a huge Warhammer40K fan, this was my motivation to reach you in the first place :)
You can find me in #archlinux & #openra channels @freenode if you are willing to have a quick chat.
its not letting me play online it just takes me to the group
For whatever reason the server browser does not recognise EX servers. As a workaround the addresses of EX servers are posted to the group page so you can copy them into the server address box and connect that way.
