Brace for impact. Release day is here, after almost 5 years of work, Apex Studios finally brings you the first release of Covenant at War.
This release, as stated in the previous update is a SPACE SKIRMISH ONLY beta version, including both the UNSC and Covenant sides. There will be regular patches following this first release to fix any issues found and add plenty of new content.
Install Instructions:
It's easy. In fact, even if you forgot it, you could look it up easily, either here or with the included read me file. You only need to extract the downloaded zip file into your Star Wars: Empire at War - Forces of Corruption directory, copy the shortcut file to your desktop and change its target to reflect your installation path.

Install troubles up that wazoo! Winrar gets constant errors when I extract to the SWFOC Folder, So I extract it to a separate folder on desktop and move over files such as "Mods" Folder to replace the "Mods" I have in FOC i try to put the target for the icon but it doesn't work no matter what i put so i either did something wrong in those steps i posted or I need the exact "Start In" & "Target" >>>>>>> C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption <<<<<< Jus Fix this for Target & Start In so i can copy paste both & If that is it i'm good you're the best.
The most likely reason you got errors when trying to extract into your SWFOC folder is that you didn't run Winrar as administrator so it didn't have permission to edit that folder. Aside from that, just move the icons, and if the file path is incorrect just right click and go into the properties to modify it to the correct filepath. If none of that helps Pm me with whatever new problem arises and I'll help you out.
I don't remember how to work the filepath.. thas why i posted in my first comment for the C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption To be fixed for both Start In & Target because i forgot how
Alright,
Start in "C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption"
Target "C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption\swfoc.exe MODPATH=Mods\CaW"
Those will be the correct start in and target for the CaW shortcut, assuming you don't have it installed with steam.
hey i tryed the start in and target but it wont work i really want to play this plz help
If the shortcut doesn't work try the batch file (included, usually succesfull) or try the petrolauncher :)
Cheers that worked but I get halo space units and star wars ground units
Please actually read the description, this is a space skirmish only release.
O yer lol wish it was both nw that will be amazing cheers for the help
the batch file doesn't work for me, and the shortcut doesn't let me change it because the paths are invalid.
can you please help im stuck trying to get this mod to run properly!! thx
i have it installed with steam
what do i need to do to get it to work?

It's a PDF file, which you can open with Acrobat Reader. That program should be on your pc by default, unless you build your own pc. You can get it here for free: Get.adobe.com

you got any idea on how to do it for steam?
So I've been having an issue with my files not finding the targets. I copy and paste what you've provided here but when I hit apply or OK I get a message saying, "The name (insert name of Target or Start) specified in the (Target or Start box) is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct" Idk what to do here, I really want to try this mod but I've never gotten this to work.
What if i do have it installed with steam?? I tried following the correct filepath and I can't get it to work.
get a mod launcher i have like 30 mods in one mod folder in my swfoc and they play excelent even this one
FINALLY! my life is partially complete
You know what they say: "The longer you wait for something, the more you appreciate it" :D
I've always said the longer you wait for something the more I lose interest, luckily not in this case!
Finally! Now I go to work on merging this with Campaign Commander. The full Halo RTS is here, we just have to stitch it together.
dont suppose you'd mind sharing that around a bit? :)
Alright kids, it seems that accomplishing this isn't nearly as easy as overwriting the right files over others from their respective mods and crossing your fingers. This will take some serious XML and possibly script edits to accomplish a successful mod merge, sorry for the false hope folks. I've tried many combinations and any way you slice it ends up crashing like a paper airplane soaked in water. This business requires experience to pull off.
Congrats on the release, can't wait to play!
Thanks men, you made a greatest mod!
Thank you very much, we appreciate it a lot!
Needs balancing, UNSC are pathetic and are absolutely annihilated by Covenant. This would be fine if the unit cap and ship costs weren't the same. I would love to be able to play UNSC and actually win but I get very bored, very quickly, when a skirmish lasts an hour and a half. I prefer smaller ship scaling but I am happy doing that myself since I know not a lot of people do.
Otherwise the mod is brilliant.
We tried to keep the balancing canon and as far as I know the UNSC got beaten many times in space battles. The UNSC ships are really cheap and build extremely fast compared to Covenant ships, so the USNC do have an edge there.
And on the subject of scaling, I actually find it pretty cool you're willing to do this yourself :) Funfact: most ships are smaller than the vanilla counter parts :P (especially the fighters).
The problem is that it's extremely difficult to win as the UNSC, and very easy to win as the Covenant. Give the UNSC a higher population cap and cheaper ships and they might have a chance. I just got done with a match where I did pretty much everything in my power to win against the Covenant on easy, and, though it started out good, I got annihilated. I just didn't have enough ships to both protect my supplies as well as attack their base, so they took all of my supplies while I was attacking their base and got the money to build a few ships and destroyed my fleet.
Imo, UNSC has the advantage during the early game, when decreased ship construction costs and time allow the UNSC player to quickly attack with fregates while the Covenant has nothing to defend it's base. But indeed, as the game goes on, the Covenant grows ridiculously cheated, and even the heaviest UNSC starships are no match for medium-sized Covenant ships. So yeah, I agree on that a higher pop cap, and decreased cost - and mainly time for the Tiers-5 ships - would balance the game. Wait and see, until the Infinity is added to the UNSC roster.
What you are describing here is exactly what we did. The USNC are suffering a little from the fact that we had to take out a few elements to make this release playable (otherwise it would've had bugs).
The key to success with the UNSC lies in the 'early game' and the choises you make there. I don't know if this was an intentional analysis of the game, but I'd like to complement you on the spot on observation :)
Yeah the cap is the main problem really, I changed it myself (have to on 90% of EaW mods because default is a little low) and I can now actually win playing UNSC and they seem a little harder to fight against. Sweet spot seems to be around 60 for anyone else changing it, although higher makes for more of a challenge as Covenant.
Their the unsc! they're supposed to be on an almost impossible to win basis when fighting against the covenant. You guys seem to not understand that the UNSC are in halo logic farther inferior to the Covies you cant say theyre OP because in halo they are when it comes to starships. Go back to Arcadia in halo wars during the space seen you here them say they have four UNSC ships the texas Armstsrong pillar of autumn and one other ship against two covie ships. They barely destroyed one of the covie ships and lost two of their own in the process. Not to mention the fact that the Autumn was heavily damaged and the other ship was venting atmosphere. They are just supposed to be (even when they out number them) Far less capable space wise Oh! and not to mention in reach when they blew away 80 Unsc star ships including cruisers and heavy ships in around what ten seconds? from a group of 150 ships. and the unsc home fleet in halo 2 you see how easily we lost so many ships? even with 300 defense platforms our fleet was ravaged non theless so seriously get with halo logic and stop complaining
ive won about five times against the covenant i cant honestly see what everyones complaining about
You just made my day :)
Lol im serious! They are not as hard to win wit as everyone is saying! Build a large fleet then build a **** ton of reinforcements to replace lost ships! and they build pretty fast to me so idk what everyone else is experiencing
You of course say the truth about the technological disadvantage of the UNSC, especially when it comes to starships. But, there are a few factors to take in account here : first, the aim is to make a balanced game with two playable factions. On the second hand, I recall that in the comic Fall of Reach, as well as in the first Halo 4 level, Covenant ships are not very resilient when it comes to the hull, so I would - humbly, of course - suggest to boost their shields and weaken their lifebar, as it would both improve the MAC's usefulness and, globally, the UNSC. Oh, and talking about shields, I recall once again from Fall of Reach that Halsey says human shields technology has been made from Covenant stuff, for the Mjollnir power armor. So, hasn't this technology been used by the fleet ? Imo, human-shields-to-developp-during-the-game technology could be a way to improve the UNSC during late games.
I'm only suggesting, of course. You guys made an amazing work with this, and I trust you will do what is best to do in future versions.
We actually did give the Covenant superior shields and inferior hull. Their hull goes down just as fast as the UNSC ones, the Covvies just pack a bigger punch weapon wise.
As stated somewhere else the UNSC is having some trouble in this build due to some missing elements which caused bugs. We fixed another mix up with the files yesterday and now the space station upgrade is an actual upgrade which allows you to continiously build units.
I am not sure about human shield technology on ships, but we will certainly take this into account considering we're stil going to see Halo 5 and 6. The infinity was already way stronger than other UNSC ships, so yeah shields just may happen :)
Oh yeah, upgrading stations as research will clearly play as an advantage for the UNSC player. Thanks for fixing it, I didn't know it was a bug. And thanks for answering our questions, too !
About the Infinity, do you know in which version you intend to release it ? I guess fans could enjoy a screen, even of an untextured ship. We love big guns. I mean, I damn love big guns :D
Anyway, thanks for this great, and even more promising mod.
The Unsc have shielded ships by Halo 4. In Spartan ops you see modified frigates with shield. The Infinity also has shielding.
UNSC Ships does not have Shielding Tech. Thats a fact. The "UNSC Infinity" is a exception. Its supposed to be the most powerful ship in the universe, post the great war. With supperior shielding, tó that of the covanent as well. wait for the Infinity Aenar it will balance out stuff alot!
His balancing is fine its just the cap maybe and his scaling is fine too
agreed, in the canon from Combat Evolved, a Halcyon-Class Crusier is able to destroy 3 to 4 Covenant superior battleships (not sure if they're CCS-Class Battlecrusiers, but thats what i'm going off) in a firefight against a fleet of around 12 of them.
Dude, in canon, the UNSC ALWAYS LOSES IN SPACE! Unless you happen to be Admiral Cole that is...
He still lost 1/3 to 2/3 of his fleet
Can't remember which.

And he also out numbered the enemy fleet by... 3-1 odds?

Man, the UNSC is soposed to SUCK compared to the Covenent....even in ground battles (even though the Humans have better small arms), But especially in space. The UNSC has the MAC cannon yes but the Covenent Plasma torpedo is guided toawrds the enemy ship, rips through both human and covenent sheilds as if they were paper. In space the only adavantage the UNSC has for 99% of the war is that their commanders have realised that retreating is the better part of valor(unless it is earth we are talking about). dont mean to be an A** with this comment.
