--STORY--
For over a thousand years the "Caliphate of the Canonicate Exousian" has ruled over the world of Cretu with an iron fist, crushing all who stand against it and even those
who may have only been thinking about it.
The crushing fist of the Caliphate and the Exousian church are the men of the Holy Templar order. Otherwise known as the "Sovereign Military Order of the Holy Knights Templar".
They are both secret police and praetorian guard to the church, ruthlessly broken down, conditioned and trained into the most fanatical and disaplined super soldiers in the
world. With almost limitless authority and a burning hatred for anything but total commitment to their faith, they decide who lives and who dies in this world.
You are of course one of these men. You hold the rank of Master, subordinate only to the Grand Master himself. A warrior General, you are never seen without a mask concealing
your identity and rarely without the heavy black armor that is the uniform of the Holy Order.
For generations the world has lived under a fearful peace with the church even beginning to relax its grip upon the many regions and provinces it governs over.
But recently, stirrings of malcontent and anger ripple throughout the land. From public demonstrations and civil disobedience, to full scale riots and acts of criminal
violence, something unseen is pushing the populous towards open rebellion.
In the midst of these uncertain times, our Templar protagonist is visited by strange dreams and visions of burning cities, hills of skeletons, oceans of blood and titanic
pillars of fire reaching into a hateful sky. Along with the visions, a deep voice echoing from within himself compels him: "Slakartvia", "Slakartvia holds the secret"...
"Go alone".
Believing the voice to be God himself instructing his most loyal servant, Master Templar heads out to investigate Slakartvia, an old rural
province shrouded in mystery and superstition. He does so equipped lightly and alone, save for his trusted warhorse "Shade".
What secrets lie beneath the treetops of this land?

The atmosphere and artwork is superb! I love the level design and progression that is on show here! I must say, though, I possess a pretty solid rig and yet there are parts around the farm that cause a dip in FPS. Not sure if it's just me, but ypu might wish to look and see if there is some actor causing the frame rate drop. Otherwise, some of the bloodlust has been quenched, but now the hunger for more Trenchfoot has been sharpened. 😂

I'm having a problem where the game keeps freezing but only the visuals, but I think this may just be my computer and/or GZDoom. The environment is awesome though, I liked the light beams through the holes in the tress, it felt magical and peaceful and all warm.
Hmm wish I could help you, the map can be a bit strenuous with its many line defs. But freezing is not a problem us or our playtesters had and many of them have lower spec machines.

When you boot up GZDoom, try switching to the OpenGL ES renderer if you haven't already. That should help a lot with performance.

Beautiful game, congratulations, I can't wait to play the full version of the main title. Small note it is really difficult very little ammunition!
Hey dude did you try playing on lower difficulty? It's quite punishing on purpose as we wanted a genuine survival horror experience but the number of hostiles drops down a lot on the lower tiers so you will have more breathing room and ammo to spare.
This is a fine exmaple of Doom Mod craftsmanship. The environment, the buildup - it is all mighty fine, it really had me hooked up and kept the tension all the way through. And I really would like to say the same about the combat, but it just doesn't do it for me, sadly.
While I like the fact that enemies became maneuverable and hard to hit, they also became rather beefy and their attack speed is quite high for two-handed weapons. Not a big fan of it.
Overall, I say it is a well-made mod, obviously a carefully crafted one. Amazing job.
P.S. Also, are they talking in a mix of Polish and Russian? I can swear I've heard a couple of Russian lines, but at the same time there was an accent.

We definitely will take it on board although we wanted the game to be fairly punishing and unforgiving. However we can always do better and hopefully our next outing will win you over more so in the combat department.
And yes the spoken tongue of the locals is a combination of various Eastern European languages. A few native speakers helped our talented voice actor give the lines some authenticity.

I like combat, i switch to knife, because i cannot kill locals with revolver in catacomb.
I cannot progress past the tentacle monster, that fly through walls... should i just shoot him down? or is there some trick here?

Thanks man try thinning out the herd but concentrate your fire on the biggest beasty. He's got massive hp but when he goes down they all do. Watch your ammo try to make every shot count!

i think the monster need shorter melee range, less dmg or no melee at all.
it neigh impossible to escape him in this narrow corridors, especially when he can cut the corners.
i mean yes, its possible to do, but this was a bit too hard encounter i think, requiring too many reloads (i have 3 shells, 40 hp and some armor when the boss fight start, i couldnt pick up the shells near mirror - each time i try = death)
Just finished it. This was one hell of a ride, really enjoyed it! At first I was sort of annoyed by how quickly enemies attack and move but now I dig it 100%, adds a lot of tension, oh and the first and last time you fight the dark tentacle orb monster was just wow. Not to get carried away with writing a whole essay I can say just this. Its rough around the edges in all the right ways, this mod has got soul, soul for days. If there's more of like this coming I am all for it.
It probably could of done with another week of development but it had already taken up enough time away from the main game. It's going to get a do over eventually.

I got a question. i downloaded this mod looks great and all so i will play it later on. but it seems that my version is different then i see from play throughs. i see people starting close to a barn i start in the middel of the forest. if you look at this video it doesnt look anything like i downloaded.

Hey dude the guy playing that is starting his video later in the map and cutting certain parts out. Its the same game though. Also he along with other youtubers are using some addons and shaders to make gzdoom in general look a bit different.
Finished the mod, and damn what a beauty of atmosphere and map quality it's so dense and always a pleasure to look at. It's astounding the amount of effort you put into this.
The house with the ritual and the first encounter had me in panic, the sound of the eldrich monsters are just really on point.
Their behavior and the way they move through walls, shifting from a black shadow to their normal form makes them really scary, it's actually hard to know what they look like in actual combat and it makes them 10x more threatening because we're not sure what we're fighting. Really this scene was an absolute masterpiece of a moment.

Awesome mod ,loved every second of it especially the fact that
certain cultists swear at you in Serbian or Croatian, there is I think some Russian in it but I didn't understand that.
