This is a beta of Release 4.0 of Colonialism 1600AD so it will be further improved when I have time. Colonialism 1600AD is a 17th century mod for Empire Total War.
Install instructions:
Install as follows:
1.Place user.empire_script in C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts. Delete the previous scripts already located there first. Most problems people have had are because of not performing this step properly.
2. Place 1600_naval_007.pack, Col_loc_en.pack, Col_music, Col_scripts, Col_models.pack, Col_ui.pack, colmod.pack, Colo_events.pack, Pikeman_animation_MOD.pack, and patch_general_andy's_musket_sounds.pack in the Data folder.
The Data folder can be found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Empire Total War\data.
3. If "new.pack" is already in your Data folder, delete it.
4. Next place startpos.esf in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Empire Total War\data\campaigns\main.
Now start Empire Total War as normal through Steam. Do not use Modmanager as this may prevent the faction specific generals from working. NB there seems to be a conflict between 1600_naval_007.pack and the custom campaign map models, and it prevents the models being faction specific on the campaign map. You can solve this problem by deleting 1600_naval_007.pack, and deleting the entry for it in the user.empire_script (using Notepad) and saving.

- Some factions e.g. Netherlands, England etc in custom battles now have timeframe specific default starting armies. Still some work to do on this as I only recently discovered how to edit starting armies in custom battles e.g. cuirassier-lancers should be early only not late. Default artillery crews for late battles are now late, while early ones are early-type crew (though some uniforms appeared historically in late period).
- Starting date moved to 1611, closer to establishment of New Netherlands in North America at Fort Nassau.
- New non playable factions: Bohemia (emergent), Cossack Hetmanate (emergent), Circassia (a starting faction). Circassia replaces the Mamluk emergent faction.
- New units including: Early Spanish cuirassiers, Colonial Light Pikemen (for Spain), Late Austrian and Dutch generals playable in custom battles, Brussels pikemen and officer, late Austrian cuirassier and Austrian Armoured Dragoons, Polish Reiters, a default "Regiment of Horse" for Sweden using uniform of Smaland cavalry, Generalitat Pikemen (Catalan) using old model I found of Swiss Halberdier made by Adrian74 years ago (credits to Adrian if still around here), various late Spanish cavalry units including Flandes/Osuna/Extramadura\ cavalry, Viejo and Nuevo Dragoons, Walloon dragoons (Late). Other units include Episcopal Militia of Barcelona, Cuirassiers de Roi (France). In some cases I have included the name of the war a particular unit fought in in brackets after their name.
- Early Swedish artillery calibres standardised as per Gustavan reforms.
- Most cavalry now have pistols (unless lance, bow or carbine armed), which can usually be fired during cavalry charge.
- Some factions in custom battles now have a generic Matchlock and Flintlock musketeer.
- Some new officer models.
- Early Polish winged hussars have one wing only. When recruited at later buildings they have two wings.
I love the idea of the mod but the campaign ai needs a look at they are not building or recruiting as they should also matchlock infantry very buggy sometimes reload twice and get stuck in "fire by rank" animation... i hope this feedback helps :)

Small mistake in the instruction - paragraph 1 features "Delete the previous scripts already located there first" 2 times, and there's a needless dot there too.
Just an observation in case you'd want to correct it. I know you were probably very tired on release so don't worry about it.

I Test It out. and Found some mistakes about Russia Flag texture. You put it in Flag2.dds but that is a wrong direction. You must put it in Flag3.dds
I need help. There's not scripts folder, I tried adding one, but that didn't work, I put the user script, in the main folder and in data but neither of those worked, where do I put it?
The script folder by default is hidden in ETW. To bring it up on screen paste C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts to the Windows address bar or in a Windows search.
Note that for "username" you put in your computers username for the Appdata folder..
Alternatively you can try running on Modmanager which is free.
Hello! Big fan of the historical era. I've been playing with the Darth mod, but i dont necessarily want to reinstall the game and delete the mod entirely. Does anyone have any ideas on this issue? Its not really related to THIS mod though.

Try verifying integrity of cache in Steam though that will reset start date to 1700
Is there a way I can play the game at 1611 since verifying game cache changes starting position which breaks immersion and historical accuracy or nah?

I am pretty sure i have installed the mod correctly, i placed all files in the folders, but the game kept crashing on startup. I verivied the cache in steam, and tried again. This still didn't fix the issue.
I have tried everything to make the mod work but nothing seems to help. Is there a way to get the mod to work?

If you were still creating new units for the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, I would recommend the Polish military parade from 2018. Stefan Batory's soldiers were shown there.

Downloaded this little gem yesterday and it works perfectly fine! Really enjoying the time period and all the effort being put into this mod. Some bugs here and there but they've already been reported. Would definitely recommend this! Hope it's still being worked on :)

Are emergant factions playable ? If not could you make ireland a playable emergant faction as it was in thr middle of a masive rebellion (part of the 30 years war) at this point caller the 9 years war in ireland

This mod looks amazing. Only advice I have is, if you do decide to touch up the Native American factions, I suggest you google time specific weapons such as war clubs etc. Also, if you're unable to, find someone that can touch up the textures and skins a bit to make them look better. Other than that, You did an amazing job and I really appreciate the work you put into the game <3

Would you be up for a mod based on the early victorian era and the subsequent events, realted not only to the major factions, also the minor factions like Mexico in the Texas war and the American-Mexican War, the British expansion to Persia through the British East Indian Company and as an example the Crieman War, the French Conquest of Algeria, the First Carlista War in Spain, and the post napoleonic revolutions, all of them, involving advances in weaponry like the very first mass production breech loading rifles, like the Hall Rifle, the Sharps rifle, the Enflied-Snider rifle, the Tabariere rifle, the Dreyse rifle and more, and of course, the Italian unification....
I'm experiencing a problem: when I start the main campaign with, let's say, Spain, I have the new World colonies "clouded" by the fog of war even if I control them.
How do you play vanilla empire after installing the mod?
