Well, they are definately fun to play! As for the future mods - I think both mods (Ice Age and Modern Days) will be good if you make them with Modders Edition, but they would be harder to put together than C2 or C+.

I think Ice Age would be easier to make, but there is very small amount of addons for it, unless you going to use some older ones. Which addons exactly you going to use for Ice Age, if you going to make MME version of it - very old models by Ornithomimid 1 and Poharex (like Oreodont and Aurochs) from Carnivores Saga, outdated Far North DLC models, new Wendigo and updated Yeti? Many of really old ones lack any sounds and unique killing animations (which is important thing in Ice Age), so it takes time and effort to make them complete.

The main issue about original Modern Days mod is the fact that it have a great variety of regions, yet you WILL (even if you didn't select them, because random spawn mechanic still exists) hunt creatures, which are not supposed to be in this particular region (like, polar bears in savanna map?! African elephant in arctic map?!). Unless, huntable roster would only include invasive dinosaurs (they are everywhere!), while modern animals would be map exclusive ambients and huntables, which is possible with Modders Edition. Still, what is you ideas, which addons you gonna use for Modern Days? You said "cityscape scenario", but, i guess, you would use original c1-c2 creatures and maybe some addons, not Middle Islands/Cityscape ones? Are you going to use some creatures that can be also be used for Ice Age?

All very good questions my good sir/miss.

While including the dinosaurs of c1 and c2 would be interesting and give the mod more content, it would take away from the idea of this being an Ice Age mod. Plus, you can hunt those dinosaurs in a lot of other mods, official games, or even the two previous mods I have made.

The main hunting roster would be the creatures of Carnivores Ice Age. When i say cityscape scenario, think of it as Carnivores Cityscape but with the ice age creatures instead of dinosaurs.

In terms of addons, it would mostly be reskins of ice age creatures and maybe Poharex dodo

Oh, i misunderstood, i thought Modern Days would be like Cityscape, but with both invasive dinosaurs and native Earth animals being a threat for a hunter. Nevermind, i get it now - Ice Age creatures + reskins. What about mortal zones?

Well, as i said earlier, both could be good. Updating Ice Age feels more logical (its official game after all), while updating Modern Days would be more interesting, because of new scenarios.

Mortal zones... That is indeed a possibility. Someone actually put in an addon that gives the original ice age creatures mortal zones, so i could indeed put mortal zones in. Also, the points received from the ice age animals will be double then they were in ice age (because the alien animals are invading earth). This would make Modern Days more fun for me in my opinion, because the original modern days was too much of a grind.

In response to your second comment, that is the exact problem i ran into for deciding between the two mods. I could potentially do both, but they would feature a lot of the same content. Modern Days would have more content however. Thats why i asked the community which one they would prefer.

Okay. Try updating Modern Days then. Old mod is indeed very grindy and could be better than it is right now. And more content - after all this is the reason why your C2 and C+ expansions are fun and useful, they feature tons of animals.

By the way, have you played JPH2:Polar Expansion?

Yes i have in fact. I feel it was on par with JPH3 in my opinion. It was nice to play an ice age mod for a change though. I have thought of maybe using some of the animals there in a mod but a lot of their skins are very bright & unnatural, plus they arent standalone mods.

For example, I have wanted to add the sinraptor from carnivores genesis to my mod for quite some time now because it is being removed from their hunting roster. But the sinraptor is part of their mod, so i have asked Saurian if i could use the sinraptor but i havent gotten a response yet. The same goes for the psittacosaurus from Fallen Kings.

Yea. Modern Days a least has a much better skins than JPH2.

Not sure about sinraptor from Genesis (too bright reskin of allosaurus), but i kinda wanted to see juvenile ceratosaurus and gigantic allosaurus in your update, if you get a permission from Zerer. Maybe other JenDOS creatures besides dilophosaurus - carnotaurus and iguanodon. Iguanodon could be renamed to "Camptosaurus" or "Draconyx", cause mod already have Burian-styled iguanodon. Oh, and maybe that mutant velociraptor reskin from one of the cinematic hunt videos by Saurian Target.

I know you already made a small update for c2, but, can i make another suggestion? I think tyrannosaurus should have more limited health, just like brachiosaurus is no longer invincible to bullets in Modders Edition. Think about t-rexes from Migration and Genesis mods - even with lowered health, they are still extremely dangerous and boss-like creatures. It would also make more sense, because all other large and powerful creatures (iguanocolossus, giganotosaurus, acrocanthosaurus, brontosaurus, amargasaurus, and even ghoul) don't have such huge amount of health.

The sinraptor would be endemic to The Lost City, alongside its partner the Mantellodon. Thats really the only map that would fit the sinraptor.

What juvenile ceratosaurus and gigantic allosaurus do you speak of? Are you talking about the proceratosaurus & allosaurus from Carnivores Desperation?

I am not sure about the two other JenDOS creatures. I could definitely see the Iguanodon being a part of the mod and Draconyx is a great replacement name (Camptosaurus not so much since a much better Campto is in Fallen Kings). Speaking of Camptosaurus, I have thought about using Fallen King’s old Camptosaurus model and renaming it to Uteodon.

As for the Carnotaurus, I am not too sure. I wouldn’t have the faintest idea of where to put it. I feel Carnotaurus would be better fit for the C+ mod.

That’s a very good point about the T-Rex. It would definitely have the most health out of all the dinosaurs though. The Migration Rex had 100 health, so that’s probably what I’ll do for the next update. I’ll do that for the c+ mod too. I am always up for new suggestions or ideas for this mod, just like Mount Kirk and making T-Rex mortal instead of immortal.

Also an update on the Modern Days mod, I have successfully implemented all the animals from the old mod into the MEE. I have also decided to use Raptor Klaw’s Skin Pack 2.

So far I have added in the Megaloceros skin and renamed it the Fallow Elk.
I have added the bear skin and renamed it the Great Grizzly.
I have added the wolf skin and renamed it the Great Gray Wolf.
These variants would have a little bit more health, better senses, and more points worth than the regular animals.

I have also used the arctic wolf and polar bear as albino variants for the gray wolf and grizzly bear.

I thought about the mortal zones but I don’t think it’ll be included. If you think about it, the weapons in modern days were built for smaller, weaker earth animals and not the tougher alien animals of FMMUV-32. So, in addition to doubling their scores, I have doubled their health to simulate that sort of scenario. If mortal zones were implemented, I’d find it quite odd that the starting pistol could kill a massive alien mammoth with one shot. The regular earth animals would have their default health.

I have shrunk the models of the warthog and red fox for better accuracy. Plus the wild boar and warthog are the exact same model. The next step would be to try and give proper size statistics in terms of weight.

I still have a lot of work ahead of me. I still want to add new menu music, fix that darn waiver to say Dinocorp and not lolcorp, and give new area, animal, and weapon descriptions. I think what I’ll do is release the demo version with the main gameplay mechanics implemented and then with the full version give it a lot of polish.

Tormer did a small showcase video of those two (huge allo subspecies and baby cerato) a year ago, you can find it on his youtube channel. With download links in description, i think.

Nice to know about you progress with Modern Days. Do you have any plans about pack/herd mechanics? Wolfes definately should be a pack hunters, i think, but what about some herbivores, maybe they could travel in small herds too?

In terms of packs and herds, gray wolves, dire wolves, Arctic wolves would hunt in packs of 3 to 5. Elephants would travel in herds between 1 or 5 individuals, and warthogs would be in groups of 1 to 8 individuals.

I am hoping that I’ll get to the stage where I can edit the models so that I can make female variants for the deer. They would be worth very few points or no points at all, except for the megaloceros females. They would not go aggro unless you are right on top of them. They would travel in herds as well. I don’t how to do it yet though.

Oh, I just realized I could include tiger sharks as aquatic ambients. Colorado is a reskin of fort Ciskin, so it’s an island but I could include them there. I think I would leave them out of the Arctic though.

Speaking of Colorado, I plan on including the revamped map that you can find on moddb.

I found the juvie cerato and gigantic allo you were talking about. They are definitely worth adding into the mod. But i think i need to wait a little bit before i do another update for this mod.

I also found a lot of other things i could add from watching his videos.
