Description
Planetstorm is an objective based assault-style game played in two theaters, in space, and on the ground. In space you must engage fleets of massive warships, controlling vehicles from ship interiors or launching fighters to engage in spectacular dogfights. Planetside you must fight either as attacker or defender, using an array of vehicles and weapons to overcome the enemy.

apparently you need a profile and eveytime i put it in it says it's invalid
Erm sorry. This is a UT3 *mod*. Which means you need a legitimate copy of Unreal Tournament 3 and a profile ID in order to play it online.
It's like... what... five bucks nowadays?
In case you DO have a genuine copy of UT3 though, if you have ever played online with UT3 you'd know what profile to use. It's a gamespy ID, I believe, and is necessary for UT3 to be registered.

Are you saying that you cant even play single player UT3 WITHOUT registering the game with gamespy?
I've just bought it (for 5 bucks)and have NO intention of playing multiplayer, just single, so if it needs registration then its going back to the shop.

Don't be silly, you don't have to register the game at Gamespy. You only need Gamespy account. Which is completely free.

No. Heh. Not what I meant. You can happily play Planetstorm with bots OFFLINE without ever needing to register for anything. I think you can also play LAN multiplayer with it too without ever going online, but I'm not sure.
BUT if you want to play it online against humans (as it should be played), you just need to create an account in gamespy then log in using that username and password before browsing for servers (as you would if you're just playing vanilla UT3). This would necessitate you to have the correct CDKey I believe (if your copy of UT3 is legit, you should have no problem with it), other than that, it's completely free.
It has problems though, gamespy tends to 'remember' the wrong keybinds resulting in you having to reset it each time you play. But that is kinda... well.. Epic's and Gamespy's fault. Not ours. It's minor though and only happens to a few people.

When I bought this game i had no idea it would turn out to be this much fun. These modders are absolute legends and very generous with there creations.
ps. Wing Commander is back,its free, 3D AND it has HDR FX like Bloom etc.
For any Wing Commander fans out there, there is a NEW, free standalone game available. Its called 'Wing Commander Standoff' and its a mod for WC Special Ops. Special Ops is now FREE again and WC Standoff is finished and bundled into 3 downloads giving 2 WC games BOTH for free and both GL enhanced.

Make sure UT3 is patched to version 2.2

This is one of the many UT3 mods I have been waiting to try once I bought UT3. Now that I have UT3, I just need to find some time to start trying them all :)

No, this is still a UT3 release. And it's our last release as a UT3 mod.
And yes, we will start moving to UDK shortly in January 2010 after a wee break. We're a bit burnt out from the massive effort for making this mod for this year, heh. :)

A video is in the works, but proceeding slowly in the festive season. It's probably somewhere in the middle of BF and ET:QW, objective-based, many ways to get to the winning conditions, but not so rigidly linear.

Ok I was wondering if there is some way to update from RC5, because as awesome as this game is (and thats really awesome) I would rather not download another 1.6 gigabyte file.
Sorry, no, due to the way content is cooked into the maps at a certain point in the process, it can't be patched and retain online functionality, so full installers only. If its any consolation, RC8 is massively improved compared to RC5
Whats with all the complaints the 1.6GB is too big, its frikin small.
Plus im running 256Kb/s becoz i live in NZ, considering the update for MW2 is like what 2.5GB or sumthen, (idk im running slow net atm)

I downloaded it, and when i used the installer it came up with a integrity error, so im trying to download it on another mirror. Is that what im supposed to do.

The max download speed is currently 67kB/s probably because of the server. I know it isn't my internet because I am currently downloading it from strategyinformer at 500kB/s

hey is anyone else havign a problem with this every time i boot up the mod its tries to automatically log me into this sarcen account that fails i can then log into my own account but if i exit the game any changes made i nthe options ( graphics screen resolution ) dont carry on into the next boot up
Weird that it's forgetting everything, all I've seen before is gamespy resetting keybinds. Try running it as administrator perhaps, assuming you're on vista. Perhaps UAC is preventing it from writing to the ini files.
a torrent or an ftp would be better than the instable moddb server for more than 1gb

Yea UT3 is dead, we only retain the server because it's not costing us anything :)
Grab the UDK standalone build, only two maps but htere is some online play to be had at the weekends, and the bots suck less (oh how I'm looking forward to us rewriting the AI from scratch)
Why cant i enter vehicles in this version of the mod ... i mean on ground maps, cause in space i have no problem driving the fighters or the big ships.
its because you took heavy bot.
take a medium one not that heavy armored man. cos they cannot get into vehicles and can only sit in a passenger
