Eternal Hostility

Notice:This is an idea on the drawing board. No assets have been made yet, and no programming has been written... yet. Also development might be slow for the next few months since I have my record and final exams coming up soon. Along the way we will be attempting to learn the unity engine.

History:
3047: the nations of earth unite under one banner and set out to fulfil their destiny, to rule the stars. Star ships are spewed out by the shipyards orbiting Mars and factories covering the surface of Mars mass produce three variants of intelligent robots. These robots are to conquer the galaxy for their human masters.
3395: greed, jealousy, treachery, and unrest tear the human race apart into three factions. Each faction cesses control of a robot variant .civil war erupts.
3398: the robots have learned and evolved, they discover "coders" in their midst. These coders have the ability to manipulate data and programming, and can even force it to manifest in the physical world, this is later dubbed as the data flow. The coders write a program that forces all robots to abide by their rules of engagement.
3401: the human morals, weakness, and inability to grasp the data flow come into conflict with the robots rules of engagement. Human kind is exterminated by their own creations. The robots merge into one force. The galaxy knows peace.
5270: the three variants have evolved in three radically different ways. Each variant finds itself disgusted by the other and their ways. Eternal hostility follows.

Robot rules of engagement:
No hostility will take place in high orbit above a planet.
No surrender will be accepted, no mercy will be shown, and no captives will be taken.
No heresy shall be committed by the use of enemy arms.
Weakness shall be erased.

Factions: ...work in progress...
Blue faction (needs name):
Blocky style. "Good" guys. Lawful and judgemental. Believes that the best defence is the best offence. (Needs flesh on the bones) "You are doing it wrong!" -blue commander.

Red faction (needs name):
Spiky style. "Bad" guys. Violent and revengeful. Believes that offence is an art. (Needs more!... stuff) "It's all your fault!" -red bezerker.

Green faction (needs name):
Smooth style. "Ugly" guys (robots sense of attraction is strange at best). Sneaky and religious. Believes ambushes are the way to go. "When all else failes, overkill prevailes!" -green assassin.(Factions will be changed greatly)

Data flow:
Equivalent of magic or "force powers" to the bots. The data flow is used by "coders". The data flow is a telekinetic and telepathic force which may manifest in different forms and may also be used to corrupt and hack.

Fire team:
Player will lead a team of four bots (including the player). Each fire team bot is individually customized by the player to fit specific roles (defence, offence, medic...?). Each bot can be programed to have its own behaviour and personality. The fire team can be broken up into smaller parts and given separate orders.

Players star ship:
Can be exchanged an upgraded. Acts as base of operations. Can move from planet to planet. High orbit=management mode.Low orbit=space battle.Drop ship=delivers fire team to the planet and allow retrieval.

Equip menu:
Consists of head, shoulders, arms, torso, legs, feet, power generator, power cells, shield generator, back (mission), primary weapon, side arm, and melee
weapon(s) slots.

Scrap points:
Obtained when killing enemies, levelling up, or completing objectives. Used to unlock and/or upgrade equipment.

Cover system:
Cover can be penetrated and/or destroyed by some weapons. Flowing movement from cover to cover. Aimed and blind fire out of cover.

Armour:
Armour score out of 100. Roll 100 side die. Lower score=better. For example, if armour score is 30 then a roll of 25 will be blocked by the armour. But a roll of 35 will penetrate armour and damage health. Some weapons have armour piercing properties; if the weapon's AP value is higher than the armour score it automatically penetrates the armour.

Melee combat:-
directional attacking and blocking.-stealth kills.-counter moves. -melee bypasses shields but not armour.

Ammo:
No ammunition in the game. Instead power cells are used. Power cells are gradually filled by the power generator. Power cells can also be acquired from slain bots.

Well there you have my little spark of an idea. It obviously still requires a lot of work and refining. Constructive advice, suggestions, and criticism are welcome. Concept art will be greatly appreciated (between fishy and I we have about as much artistic ability as a blind mole) and credit will be given if used.
