You can see this variant in the PS2 release of The Force Unleashed used by the empire.

Or maybe was he talking about the commando variant in the clone wars cartoon

There are modified /i's used for anti-armor duties, stealth and ARC variants as well.

Likely he meant the /v vehicle carrier with racks for carrying groups of light vehicles such as speeders.
