What with being quarantined for weeks now, I've decided to finally get into modding, and this is my first map; I hope you like it! Feel free to let me know about any bugs (the y wing chaingun turret sounds dont work, I know) or suggestions you may have

I am also thinking about turning this into a series type thing, with intense trench warfare in open areas with a lot of turrets and walkers. I would do something in this style for places like tatooine, crait, endor, etc., idk. Lmk what you guys think of this idea and what maps you would like

DEAR GOD thanks a Rhen Var map at last.

Well there's an idea I could give you : Thule. It's un underused map modding wise, sadly but this planet has a lot to offer, if you ever come across assets for Thule, give it a try for your series.

Then only missing things could be custom sides, vehicles etc from this good old EU, it would add much, but it's not mandatory for now

I'll definitely look into doing that, but I'm new and I think I should start by doing some of the stuff im more familiar with and that has more relevant assets available first, so I can get used to the map making process and become a better modder, then start with the less familiar stuff to me like thule. I'll prob start with tatooine or crait, as theyre open and basic and a good way to keep easing into it, but i googled pics of thule and it looks cool so i'll def add it to the list. Scarif is another possibility down the road. But rn im leaning towards tatooine next, as its prob the easiest

That works :p For tatooine, you'll take example on the Dune Sea?

Yep, plus there are released assets from the tatooine:outpost map (which is very good) and im not sure but i think tatooine at war as well. Plus i might put mos eisely behind the rebel entrenchments, and maybe have them defend a bit into it as well. We'll see what happens lol. Im busy through thurs but i might start work on this soon after and will keep you updated

Just as an idea : maybe you could make imperial AT-ATs go through a canyon defended by rebels, with turrets and all, over which there'd rock bridges at heights where infantry would fight either : a two fronts mission? Just an idea, it'd be quite simple I guess?

That's a great idea! I can try that, and I may make multiple versions of different locations, like both that idea and my original dune sea into mos eisely idea, though im leaning towards trying your idea first. hopefully ill have preliminary info at the weekend

You can do both on one map, though it'd be quite big : make the canyon first, with the bridges over it as it'd be the center of the battle. Make AT-ATs and AT-STs spawn on one end, forced to break through rebel defense lines

Behind rebels could be a part of Mos Eisley where several CPs could lie, and Imperials could have a broken sandcrawler as a CP in the dune sea with several speeder bikes to harass rebels on that part of the map

So if Imperials manage to break rebel lines, they could have a better advantage as they would either attack from two sides and heavier fire power.

This is an idea. Now for the battle above the canyon, there'd be a CP on each side but what would be the prize for it? Particle turrets with a view on Mos Eisley, the Dune Sea and the Canyon?

Possibly, that might be difficult to do. i'll just start with the canyon part and see where things go

Very good for a first map and the trench warfare is great.

This would be a great map even if it wasn't your first - this is one of the most fun large-scale maps I've played on :D

One slight bug - some of the ruined AT-ATs on the map aren't very solid

there are other objects which also have that problem, and idk how to fix it. I just downloaded the xsi stuff last night but there's a lot of tutorials and it may be a while before i learn how to do that kind of thing, but i am trying
EDIT: this has been fixed in the 1.1 version

In other news, work on the next map in this series, Tatooine, is underway, but will likely take a while as i have to figure out all this modeling stuff

Excellent map design, excellent concept execution. I've been itching for a trench warfare gameplay since booting up Battlefront 1 and seeing the trenches on Hoth. You never really use them in the vanilla gameplay, so it's nice to see them much more utilized.

I can only think of two things I would consider improving:

Putting the command posts in the trenches to encourage more of the fighting to happen there rather than in the middle. I understand why you put it in the middle, but as of now a bulk of the fighting once you get further in is right in the middle, with the trenches being ignored.

Reducing the Rebels' reinforcement count. As the map stands right now it is virtually impossible to win as the empire without using fake console to change the reinforcement count, and surprisingly easy to win as the rebels.

That's my two cents, and just a reminder that this is really well done. I can't believe someone finally made the map I've wanted since 2004. Great job!

I may play with command post placement (no guarantee on that though), but I'll def lower the reinforcement count for the rebels in 1.1 (the reason it's so high is bc when i started testing earlier versions, the empire had more of a command post advantage, so i increased reb reinforcements to match. I then changed the command post layout but not the reinforcement count, hence the current balancing issues).

Also coming in 1.1 are some object fixes (rn there are a lot that you can just walk right through). I may also add some star destroyers in the sky. Furthermore, a smaller version of the map centering around the rebel base is in the works for those who prefer small scale infantry fighting.

All of this is being worked on on and off, in addition to Tatooine: Canyon Assault, which is still in the early stages. Thanks for your feedback!

Great map! A couple missing audio pieces but it is otherwise great and very engaging. Reminiscent of the excellent mod map Corellia: Shores. This map is exactly the type of gameplay that is perfect for this game.

I am aware of the y wing's turret not having audio, but didn't know there were more. What else was missing for you?

Primarily, music for the infantry.

I have the music off in my audio settings so i guess i never noticed haha, but i'll look into adding that into the 1.1 if possible. thanks for the feedback!

Thanks! I also recommend Ipmaster1996's side mod: Moddb.com .it changes the rebel gunship to a u wing, which is really cool
