This is a texture pack that will replace Quake 2 16bit textures with 32bit textures. The design of this pack respect the authenticity of the original game design. After testing many textures pack for Quake 2 this is the best i ever found. This pack was originaly made by Tosher based on collection of paks with various high quality 32bit textures paks a long time ago. It is very hard to find it right now. HOWEVER this pack was not working with KMQ2 port because the textures were in .png format. I extracted them from the .PAK file and converted all the textures to jpeg. Now the pack works with QMk2! INSTALLATION : Simply unzip the "textures" and the "scripts" folder to your baseq2 directory!

Wow so happy to find this, thanks a million quake 2 for ever!
It works fine with kmquake2 and looks awsome!!!
Yep it works fine with kmquake 2 but it seems some textures are still old and not replaced for the newers.
They are good, but in Outer Courts I found a wrong texture and it looks HORRIBLE, somebody has to fix it!
does this work this steam version of quake 2??
You need to get a sourceport, I would recommend KMQuake2. It makes it look a little nicer, and allows for more mod support. Trust me on this one, I bought my copy off steam too :)
JPG isn't really the best format to use as it causes a lot of lossy artifacts which may spoil the quality of the textures.

Wow! What a HUGE difference and improvement. Quake 2 with this HiRes pack and the KMQuake2 mod, plus the unofficial Q2 3.24 patch really make the dear old, antique 3D shooter relevant again. I'm luvin' it. Quake 2 will always be one of my favourite games, even though it's about 26 years old now; this HiRes pack in conjunction with kmQuake 2, and the 3.24 patch, makes it super cool to play on modern PCs. It actually looks really good now! Although it retains its (understandably) dated appearance and vibe, it is nonetheless a very satisfying gaming experience.
The same textures are used in Quake 2 RTX. Who took it from who?
