_______
"STORY"
_______
Hard morning. No breakfast.
Missed the LZ quite a bit.
Rough landing. Found a teleporter.
Messages buzzing from HQ.
Gotta do what a muhreen gotta do.
Teleporter hums invitingly.
Ride back broken. Regrets mounting.
Choices limiting. Hunger increasing.
Time for some beef Strogganoff.
_____
ABOUT
_____
Congratulations to Quake 2 for 25 years!
This UNIT came about as a NEED and DESIRE
to PROVE to the WHOLE WORLD how much this
game NEEDS even more SINGLEPLAYER-love.
This has been a collaborative effort between
many parts, a very international team, and
a lot of scourgings at the cross by the
abusive and mean project leader.
Yes, it is a few months too late, but such
is life when you do this in your sparetime...
___
NEW
___
Maps
____
- The maps of the Guggenheim are finally in!
They complete the HUB so as to not leave any
gaps in the teleporter areas.
- Debase (dbase.bsp) is a standalone map
used to test 64-bit Arghrad and the newer
additions to the play of the game.
Stroggos
________
- The BFGladiator is the newest addition to
the Quake 2-line of STROGG. It has an energy
shield and fires a HOMING BFG-projectile!
Luckily it is not appearing that often,
but should you see one, be extremely
cautious, and make it your first priority.
It will sap your life FAST even on easy.
- The Berserker got his groove back!
He now does the attacks that were taken
out of the original game's release.
- Disruptor guards are forceful!
They got ENERGY SHIELDS and some rather
disrupting firepower that WILL end you.
Player
______
- Faster weaponswitching!
This has been a much-requested addition by
some out there. It sure makes it more fun
to switch weaponry out there.
Gameplay balance
________________
- Progressive pickup-bonuses!
For the first three keys being uppicked,
there are now an additional bonus amount.
This will last for three levels, until it
returns to the original level's amounts.
Graffix
_______
- New QUAD DAMMIDGE!
With a nice commemorative 25 attached.
Audio
_____
- New STROGG sounds!
Especially for the BFGladiator and the
guards of the Disruptor.
- New MUSIC!
Gracefully borrowed without consent from
the artist Goreshit. Sorry... ;_;
_____
SETUP
_____
To attempt it, you need the .PAKs from the
missionpaks GROUND ZERO & RECKONING,
but remember to rename one of them to
pak1.pak to avoid overwritings.
And once you have it stalled into a separate
folder under Quake 2's root folder, start it
by using this (skill is from 0 to 3):
+set game FOLDERNAME +skill 0 +map techbase0
This is different in Q2Pro, in which a +map
is to be replaced with a +gamemap or so...
Keep in mind that dbase.bsp is separate and
will not be accessible from the HUB!
Start it by doing this:
map dbase
