This updates common switches and other textures to use high definition AI-upscaled textures. The whole reason for this was that I wanted the alien switch to look sharper, and got carried away.
HD Switches & More
Version 1.00: 2/10/2024
This updates common switches and other textures to use high definition AI-upscaled textures.
Installation Instructions: (Jedi Knight Remastered 3.2+):
- Backup your existing AppData\Roaming\OpenJKDF2\openjkdf2\jkgm\materials\jknup\ files into some other backup folder.
- Copy these textures into the AppData\Roaming\OpenJKDF2\openjkdf2\jkgm\materials\jknup\ folder, overwriting the files there.
If you want to uninstall the textures, just copy the files from your backup folder over the ones in AppData\Roaming\OpenJKDF2\openjkdf2\jkgm\materials\jknup\
Notes:
- I used Topaz Gigapixel AI to upscale the textures, along with manual tweaks with Gimp.
- I may continue making texture updates / improvements.
- I recommend checking out Vurt's JK-DF2 Extreme Definition Texture Pack, this gave me inspiration and I prefer some of Vurt's textures more than the originals.
To update, this is turning into a complete retexturing mod, using original game assets where possible. Stay tuned.
Will this compliment Vurts texture pack, or is this an entire retexturing as well?
It will be an entire retexturing mod. Vurt's mod is great but it uses new textures, and sometimes differs from the original art style. My mod will use upscaled textures from the original/enhanced assets, so it should retain the same feel.
I agree. Awesome project. Looking forward to it!
