0. New in this version.
----------
V1.0- First release out of beta, should work properly without glitches!
V1.8.3- 1.8.3 update, now uses boolean instead of number.
V1.8.4- 1.8.4 update
1. What is this?
----------
This is a remake of a mod made by Stoffe for the original TSL, made compatible for TSLRCM 1.8.4 (and M4-78EP). It's been completely re-made from scratch (thanks to Stoffe's extensive changelist in his readme), changing some things backstage, mainly just because it's easier for me to work in a slightly different way, and added functionality to add Disciple to your party as male as well.
As such, it's no "compatibility patch", it doesn't need anything (besides TSLRCM 1.8.4) to work.
Also, it has been modified to use the TSLPatcher instead of dumping files in the override, making it more compatible with other mods as well, and not require modifications just so it works from override (602/610 disc_enc.dlg).
Here's what the original readme had to say about it;
This is a simple modification for SWKotOR:The Sith Lords that give a female Exile a choice of bringing along The Handmaiden instead of The Disciple as a party member.
Use it if you wish some variety to your parties, or you can't stand the Disciple for whatever reason, or if you simply like the Handmaiden better. This mod will give you the choice.
It will only change when the game checks the gender of the Exile to determine whether to use the Handmaiden or the Disciple. No game content has been changed, so if you can't stand having the Handmaiden call you "he/him" all the time, then don't bring her along. :)
2. How do I install this mod?
----------
NOTE: TSLRCM 1.8.4 IS REQUIRED FOR THIS MOD!
You may have to disable read-only properties for updates to be applied correctly. Always contact me if you get errors during installation.
Extract the "Handmaiden 4 Females - Disciple 4 Males (for TSLRCM 1.8.4)" mod, taking care to insure that both the "TSLPatcher.exe" file and "tslpatchdata" folder are extracted to the same folder (these files can be extracted to any folder on your hard drive EXCEPT those within the SWKotOR2 folder hierarchy). Also note that simply copying the files within "tslpatchdata" to your "Override" folder will not properly install the mod.
Non-Steam:
Simply run the TSLPatcher and point it to your installation location, and pick the first installation option.
Steam:
* If using just TSLRCM run the TSLPatcher and point it towards the TSLRCM Workshop location (/SteamApps/workshop/content/208580/485537937 for the English TSLRCM). Use the first installer option.
* If using TSLRCM and M4-78EP pick the second installer option and point it towards the TSLRCM Workshop location as shown above. Afterwards run the TSLPatcher again(!) and run the 3rd installer option, pointing it to the M4-78EP Workshop location (/SteamApps/workshop/content/208580/485560877).
Note: a new folder named "backup" will be created during insanitation within the folder the installer was run from. If you plan on uninstalling this mod this folder and the files therein must not be deleted as they are used during the uninstall process.
3. Uninstall:
----------
The files listed below may have been modified during the installation of this mod:
Within "Overide"
* globalcat.2da
Within "Modules"
* 950COR.mod
* 610DAN.mod
* 262TEL.mod
* 006EBO.mod
The following file has been replaced in "Override"
* handmaiden.dlg
The following files have been added during installation of this mod:
* k_sup_galaxymap.ncs
Backups of any file that was altered were made during insanitation and placed in a folder called "backup" within the folder the installer was run from.
4. Playing instructions (read this or suffer)
----------
Copied over from the original readme, as I used the same requirement for Handmaiden to join you as female as the original mod did.
To NOT make Handmaiden join you (either as male or female) pick the "I don't care - you're going back." or "I'm taking you back to Telos - you're not welcome on this ship." when Handmaiden sneaks onboard the Ebon Hawk after leaving the Telos Academy.
In order to get the Handmaiden to come along with a female Exile, you must speak with her (the one who isn't called "Handmaiden Sister" and just "Handmaiden") when you are in the Telos Academy. Talk to her about anything you like, but when you prepare to end the conversation, she will ask you what the Force feels like.
Here you must pick one of the polite options, either telling her what the force feels like or what it's loss feels like. When she thanks you for the explanation, you MUST respond with:
"If you have any further questions in the future, seek me out and ask them."
...if you want her to come along. If you say anything else there as a female Exile, she will not stow away on the Ebon Hawk and you'll pick up the Disciple on Dantooine instead as usual.
I thought this was the easiest way to subtly indicate that she should come along without going outside the story and add a dialog option to directly tell her to come, which would ruin the stowaway "surprise" scene on the Ebon Hawk.

My thanks go out to:
The TSLRCM team... whom whichout I wouldn't become interested in modding TSL, and thus wasting so much on my time on frivilous mods...
Stoffe, for making the original mod and making the changelist in the readme so detailed it made it far easier for me to adjust it to TSLRCM 1.8.4!
Everyone who helped me by testing this before version 1.0.
Fair Strides who updated the TSLPatcher to work properly for the Steam Workshop!
Original thanks by Stoffe;
This mod came into being after reading a thread at the Holowan Laboratories forum (http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=144956) that asked for such a Mod. Since I couldn't find any I figured I should try to make one.
Though I have made the changes in this mod myself, often the hardest part of changing game behavior is knowing which game sequences and files to change. A number of people at the Holowan Laboratories have been helpful to that end. I'd also like to thank some people who risked the integrity of their game to test this mod and reported their findings. :)
From what I remember, these people are:

Achilles
reiella
Darth333
Keneth
Tupac Amaru
nacho35
vustare
mrock

Hi, I tested this Mod and it is great. I play a female and now I have the handmaid on my side. :)
But there is one thing: When I got to Dantooine, the handmaiden was not in my party and then I recruited the disciple. I was surprised that it worked . Now I have Disciple and handmaiden on my ship with all the dialogs.:)
The only sad point remains is that disciple replaces the handmaiden in the groupselection. Is there any way (perhaps in future) to decide which one I take with me? Like talk to one of them or just use a "switch" in the ship to get the one I want into the selection? There was also the idea to replace the goto slot with handmaiden/disciple. I am no modder and have no idea how hard this might be but I am sure, I am not the only one who dreams of a group with both.
Besides that. Thank you for your great mod and the chance to have a choice which one to take.
Well, the idea is you pick Handmaiden OR Disciple. If you have Handmaiden, you shouldn't be able to hire Disciple at all. That's... very strange.
I'm having this issue, as well. Regardless of whether I have Handmaiden in the party with me or not, Disciple still ends up being added to the party and replacing her entry in the party selection screen. It should also be noted that Disciple is still giving his normal female-Exile dialogue options, including the fact that there are no options to refuse him at the end of the conversation.
Hmm... I saved a game from just before entering the room with Disciple, quit TSL, and (as an odd hunch) ran the h4f installer again. Ran TSL, loaded the save, entered the room. Disciple blew me off at the end of the conversation, as he should. I'll have to go through my mod stack, but it's possible that something else may have written the dialogue back to stock after installing this one. For now, given how little is changed in the files by this mod and how unique those changes are, I think I would recommend installing this mod last in the stack.
I however cant really do that, Im having the same problem with several other mods on a regular basis and ive yet to figure out why, I was going to try checking to see if they work every time I load my game, and if they dont reloading/restarting to see if it helps
I kind of wish the mod would let you use them both... It just bothers me that there's a spot in the middle of the Party Selection Screen, and we can't use it to put Disciple/Handmaiden for the male/female Exile there respectively.
Could someone help me out a little with the install instructions. Im not really a computer person and am finding them a little hard to follow. Thanks
Run TSLPatcher, point to install location... done? Pretty much the same as TSLRCM really.
What exactly do you have a problem with
I have a problem with the mod. I installed it properly, talked to Brianna as the readme file says, but it doesn't work, she hasn't showed up when she should have. What have I done wrong?
You did pick the right conversation option at the end?

I am having a problem with the mod also. I have installed the mod correctly and followed the right conversation, yet she still does not show up when she should. Does alignment affect this?
No, it doesn't.
You asked her to seek you out if she had more questions? And then didn't appear on the Hawk?
I did seek her out and was polite then told her to seek me out, I tried the multiple variations of the polite options and still got the same end result of not having her on the Hawk. Is there anything I might have done that might be causing a problem (other mods/dialogue options)?
Maybe, or maybe I messed something up... will give it a run soon, but in the meanwhile; other mods?
With the one from yours, she would not appear post Coruscant after I followed the manual instruction on how to do it
Gave it a testrun, installing it on a fresh copy of 1.8.3, and it worked exactly as it should have.
Where did you install it. Perhaps you pointed it to the override rather than the root folder? Are there maps within the override folder?
Also remember it's possible now for players (either male or female) to reject her on the Hawk. So if she appears post-Coruscant cutscene but not on the ship, you probably rejected her offer, allowing you to go for Disciple with either gender...
I installed the game in a different directory but when I went to install the mod I set things up correctly, as for the maps none that I am aware of. I will uninstall/re install the game and then use the updated version and will post back the results.
Thank you for your time
Wafent
I just tried the mod today, but after I extracted the patch, there was no option to select the install folder. The patcher, once launched, had three options: exit, a plus sign on a magnifying glass (which gave me the configuration summary), and a Install Mod option (which when clicked gives me unhandled error with "?Installation started 10/31/2014 3:40:14 PM..." on the log) and does not install. I am running windows 8.1 so I am wondering if the patcher is just not supported anymore?
Hi, I have a Windows 8.1 OS and am a complete novice to mods, however, TSLRCM really convinced me. I have managed to download and use the main mod, and the Droid Planet one (though I won't know for sure until I get there), hwever I am having trouble downloading any of the other mods. They appear in an extraction file, but I can never extract them to the computer, as the box says "Extracting - 99% Complete" but never finishes. Am I doing something wrong or does in not work on 8.1?
They are .rar files, I don't think windows natively has support to unpack them. Try WinRar:
winrar.nl.softonic.com/download
(Sorry for the late reply, rarely check addons, and moddb wont tell me if something is posted here :/)
Okay, the answer to my question is probably going to ruin me: I've installed Kotor 2 and the most recent version of your mod (and the texture mod that replaces some NPC models) and I played up until Telos (I have a savegame right before the Atris dialogue and after the dialogue). By chance, I just came to know that you can't have handmaiden as a companion if your character is female, so I found this helpful little mod of yours. So, finally, the question: Can I install the mod now after all these hours of gameplay, load up the save right before the Atris dialogue and expect the mod to work or is a completely new playthrough required? Thanks! I might send a pm (if that's possible) to you, Hassat_Hunter, since I've just read that you don't get notified by moddb.
Yeah, moddb isn't the most friendly on notifying me of stuff happening on the page :/
As for being able to use it... yes, you can!

I like the potential of the Idea, +10, but cannot use it yet. Please! Find the way to add them both to the Party and recognise the gender of the Exile! At least within replica's choices - so that Handmaiden, though referring to the Exile as "he", won't confess her love and loyalty to the canon female Surik. Just loyalty would be enough. And vice versa - if there is something like that with Mical's dialogues. Both these characters add to the story. Unlike the situation with Mira or Hanharr (DS is quite similar - Mira dies, what a waste for the story (And I like Mira - she's adorable and hot, despite her fluffy hair), canonical LS - Hanharr still appears and has his influence, though shortened and unfinished, but still strong, IMHO). And if it is possible, please make it also count during the last dialogue with Kreia! And yeah, considering that this request brings up the issue of Kreia's scenes with Surik's Friends - or, in other words, Party members - those, I think and suggest, may either stay gender-oriented (So - just dialogues there will be partially enhanced, tweaked or reformed), or simply show the more interesting relations (For example - poor ambush on Kreia. If our Hero is Male we have conversation between Kreia and Brianna, if Female - just idiotic and vain shooting sequence with Mical. Hence - Handmaiden, if she IS in our Party, is more interesting). I know it is too much to ask of You, especially considering that all of this means additional modding and editting to make it compatible with "Enhanced Enclave", but please consider it!
Ok. Once again I'm ignored. :)
i'm playing a female exile, and i picked up handmaiden. now that i'm on dantooine, i can't get past disciple without him insisting that he join my party. i noticed AvatarZero had this problem, but when i tried to reinstall, it didn't fix the issue. i've tried with and without handmaiden in the party; reinstalling when outside the ruins; pretty much everything i can think of. at this point, i either need a way to fix this or a workaround so i can continue with the plot. ideas?

Hey, with the recent update to KOTOR 2 on Steam, any plans to put this mod on the Steam Workshop?
Hello! Any chance this mod will be updated in order to be used with the Steam Workshop version of the game? I tried using it as it is, but it looks like the .mod files that the installer tries to update, now go by a different extension (.RIM).
So I've read that an update is on the way for this mod due to compatibility issues with the recent TSLRCM 1.8.4 update.
Well, I hope it comes soon. I just discovered this mod recently and I'm around the point where you should pick up Handmaiden(p.s. Playing as fem-exile) As you can guess, I'm having issues with her not showing up on the 'Hawk. Now I know I'm not the only one going though this, and before you say anything: Yes, I did follow the ReadMe's instructions to the letter. Thing is, I was having the issue BEFORE I updated TSLRCM to 1.8.4, I was still running 1.8.3.. So, if anyone knows about any workarounds(in or out of game) or other walkthrough info, I'd love to hear your feedback.
Otherwise, godspeed to Hassat Hunter on that new update.
thanks everyone and g'night
