(Version v1.3) A PSD-format or XCF-format template for the CFA-44. Includes separate MREC files.
The image file has the following contents:
Decals Layers - Recreation of warning labels and other details on the aircraft
Note: The numbers refer to the original skin texture on which the decals are based
Unpainted Layers - Details from the original textures which are not painted, like the cockpit or landing gear
Note: The numbers refer to the original skin texture used to create the layer
UV Map - The boundaries of the aircraft model
Panels/Weathering - Details like panel lines, rust, grime, etc. that make the appearance more realistic
There are four MREC files to choose from, with the following differences:
MATTE - The metallic sheen, seen usually on stealth aircraft, is removed
COVENG - The engines are covered, giving them a less metal/shiny appearance
The MREC file named "fa44_0_MREC_CLEAN" will therefore give an appearance closest to the original skins.
Note: These MREC files have an alpha layer and will appear mostly invisible when opened in an editor.
INSTRUCTIONS
Place your layers below the Panels/Weathering layer and other detail layers.
Use both of the Unpainted layers for the vanilla CFA-44 appearance.
Disable the Unpainted Engines layer if you wish to paint the engines.
Be sure to use the appropriate MREC file to avoid strange lighting in-game.
Included are many decal layers. Those marked "00" are derived from the original skins. Those marked "07" are derived from the
Butterfly Master skin (slot 8). Some of these decals are layered on top of the Unpainted layers, and therefore must remain
above them, or the decals will not be shown.
If using GIMP, use the Bucket tool to change the color of included layers.
If you wish to use the unique panels of the Prototype skin, download the Playable Aircraft Masks from Project VANILLA as well.
These masks will enable you to apply these panels to your diffuse and MREC in part or in total.
