First off, thank you very much for your amazing reactions and feedback for the first Alpha release! It's really encouraging to know that you are enjoying this snippet of content so much and I can't wait to bring out more!
I realized that one of the most exciting things for me is to see how people use the content! So bumping into a Yavin IV map on the steam workshop or finding a Delta Squad mod add-on here on mod-db or seeing game-play vids on YouTube really makes me smile!
Now about the current state of the mod...
I'm aware that the unit and weapon balance isn't fun at all right now, its even actually quite broken. When I nerfed the clone troopers last update I didn't put much thought into it, barely tested it and so pretty much rushed it. While the patch fixed alot, the clones are now much, much weaker than I actually intended but we're working on a new patch that will fix more bugs and game-play balance and working on some interesting new infantry units and after that we'll finally start focusing on working on the first Battle Pack for Geonosis and after that is done we will probably do a late-war Battle Pack to even it out :)
This new patch, whenever it will come, will be released as a full .rar file as some seem to be having issues with the patch installer.
Some new infantry units we are working on now are:
- The OOM-series of battle droids (pilot, security, commander)
- Early and late-war loyalist militia auxiliaries.
- Separatist special forces/commandos
- Separatist non-droid officers
- Loyalist non-clone officers
I'm also in talks with a couple of promising voice actors who would like to lend their voice to the clone troopers to replace the crappy placeholder voice set the clones have now. Very exciting stuff and I can't wait to bring it out when it's ready :)
And there might even be some progress on the vehicles front! No promises yet, though, but I really hope to release a couple of vehicles soon. Again; ABSOLUTELY NO PROMISES ON THEM BEING IN THE NEXT PATCH OR EVEN THE PATCH AFTER THAT. So far, I really have no idea when I can roll them out but its a priority for me as project lead to give you AT LEAST one vehicle per faction :)
So yeah, when that is all done, the mod should finally be reasonably-playable in multiplayer. The new balance overhaul will slow combat down and make it less brutal and luck-based and better balanced and more tactical as a result. You can still mess up big-time and get punished for it but its a little more forgiving, in a good way.
We're also looking at finding better ways of distributing the mod. Seeing as its an alpha, I would like to be able to be flexible in how often I can put out updates without being tedious and annoying for the user. Having to manually re-download the mod every next day is a big no-no. But I have big doubts on whether I want to host the mod on the Steam Workshop as I prefer to keep everything centralized and in our own hands as simple as uploading it to the workshop would be. If I could find an experienced coder to make our own auto-updater, that would be great. So if you know someone with programming experience in maybe .NET or Visual Basic or whatever language works best, send them our way so he/she can help us help you have a better experience!
Thank you for your Jedi-like patience and may the force be with you, always.
Thanks for the update! Sounds awesome! so excited! :D
If you need voices for anyone but the clones (Seppy non-droids, militia, non-clone commanders) I'd like to help. You guyes have my support :P
Maybe set up a place (moddb has an inbuilt forum function for mods, I believe) for people to post auditions?
Awww yiiis! If there's an Commander Shepard in this universe, he will approve this!
Fantastic! Good luck.
ok cool
i highly recommend using steam. it is the best way to share a mod! for for anyone who does not know mods on steam can be updated, downloaded and installed automatically through a system called workshop, people can browse and subscribe to many popular and famous mods that were once updated on moddb, such as sir hinkels co-op and fields of honor German soldiers mod and customizable skirmish mod, which i totally all recommend to everyone.
I guess but sometimes the file gets broken
keep up the good work plls it is a nice mod
so do you have any plans on putting in Senate guards? for maybe a "Coruscant" map?(even if it is fan/follower made)
No, I'm not planning to at this time. For the next few milestones, I'm really focusing on the main units that were common in the clone wars. I am adding some extra EU-inspired units, but I don't want to get distracted by adding every EU clone wars unit that could somehow be relevant xD
Sooo any news when the update gets released? I am really excited :3
Very soon, I dare say!
