**Project Masamune's design has gone under strict reconstruction. Be rest assured that some of the design elements found in the media gallery, as well as the story elements, will return in one way or another when the project is picked up again later down the line. This mod may be inactive, but it will never officially "die", because it's been my sole responsibility to see this all the way through. With the heavy revisions, I feel like I've fleshed out the story a lot more, as well as its characters, so I can hopefully deliver a much more unique and original experience to the people out there that are feeling empty of such things.**

Hello there. My name is Zack, who you better know from the forums as Karuto. As some of you might know, I have been working on a mod for Half-Life 2 for a couple of months. It's an ambitious project, but the entire team is completely dedicated to this project. Here's some information about "The Masamune Project" that might get you interested:

A great new SP/MP game using the Half-Life 2 engine. It will be a single-player, live-action combat, and it will have combos, special skills, deathblows, and much, much more for your growing pleasure, brought to you by Oblivion Inc.

“The Masamune Project” takes place in the far future. The aliens control the galaxy, and Earth is virtually nonexistent after a gargantuan meteor rocked its surface and threw it into oblivion. Space Stations had been set up for the remaining humans who had escaped to Mars before the explosion occurred, but they have been enslaved by the inhabitant aliens living on the red planet and taking to a central gathering point, the planet Mokta.

Word has broken among the elder aliens that there was a tale of a magnificent weapon that gave the wielder control of the universe with it in their hands. The ancients had once granted it to the first human, who they considered a god. Things took a turn for the worse when the man abused his newly established power, destroying any planet that challenged his command. Soon, all of the mutants banded together to overthrow this deviant, but before they could, the man used all of the power in his command to utterly tear apart the universe, therefore causing the chain of events that started the Big Bang. Call it a divine source, where one can use the power of good or bad, depending on whose hands it is in.

You take the role as one of many young hopefuls who are out to find that hidden treasure that is Masamune - the ultramodern samurai Katsuhiro Yamaguchi. You appear on the planet Mokta where the weapon is rumored to be, only to find out the planet is gargantuan. You must comb through every hole and every grain of dirt to find this ancient treasure and call it your own, to wield the power of the gods. Along the way, you will meet friends that will help you and enemies that will try to stop you from this adventure.

The multiplayer version will basically be using the same maps while adding a few new ones, and it will have vehicles and more weapons/characters to choose from than the single player game.

At the moment, we are trying to come up with the art/models for the project, so that we can get everything done that is possible before the Half-Life 2 SDK is released. For your viewing pleasure, we have concept art and a model. Stay tuned, because you will be hearing a lot from us in the future!
