HEROES INTO THE APOCALYPSE

UPDATE #5

Hello to all!

I haven't posted written updates in a long time, so let's do it. Yes, there are news, this mod isn't dead, isn't suspended but still isn't finished XD

Here are some screenshots of the new work.

Service Tunnels WIP 01

I started this new area a few hours ago, so it's just a taste of what it will become. What do you think?

THE LOCATIONS

Currently, I'm working on the GREY level, still set in a rural, natural landscape like the old WOODS (the first version of this map). GREY is a vaste map, with many locations and hotspots, like lost industrial buildings, hidden passages, open spaces, cold and dark tunnels, paths in the wild, etc.

Other locations will be implemented later:

  • a small dam on the river
  • cliffs and paths in the wild
  • an abandoned village

Mystery Ruins WIP 01

I'll be honest, I found inspiration from many URBEX videos on YouTube, and from the locations I visited in the real life. Let me know in the comments if you like these ideas!

Deserted Port WIP 01

THE SOUNDSCAPE

This mod, and in particular this level, will give a lot of space to atmosphere and soundscapes: I think we're talking about realism. There's a lot of material I recorded in my excursions, when the weather was not the best for example. I'll try to do my best in learning and applying things related.

Unnamed Factory WIP 03

I've changed the wall texture in this building. There was a brick texure but it didn't work well. Maybe one day I'll change it... Keeping a dark touch on the locations is better.

CONCLUSION

Everything suggests that here, a long time ago, there was LIFE... Where did they go? Where did they go?

I leave you with a song that I rediscovered recently:

Very nice, the urbex inspiration is remarkable. There's also a strong L4D feel.
Love it!

Not only, the general design and architecture, the fog and atmosphere it give remind me L4D

Ah yes, my favourite maps from L4D 1&2 were the Woods (the one with the tunnel / subway, very cool level) and Hard Rain
