Half-Life 2: Own Life | News / Updates / Features and more.

Posted by on

Hello guys,
I didn't release news for a long time. I ( Lead Developer ) and my new Developer Hemadric just thought a long time about the concept of Own Life. Finaly we changed the base of Own Life. Own Life won't be a "Modding" RolePlay mod. It will be more like a community mod.

So, what is different?

Own Life won't be customizable anymore. Python support will be removed and the system for jobs and entities will be changed too. An MySQL database for playersaves / inventory / plots is required. We want to create a community forum that's getting update all the time. Don't worry, if you had nice ideas for your servers. You can post them in our community forum and if enough people like them, they get added to the game. In the new system, as server hoster you'll able to change your players saves and the rules about changes/playersaves was removed. We're trying to update community features every Friday. We're also working on a Linux server version, but it will take some time until we get it working. We'll also add a updater to the mod. It checks the current version of the mod if you start it. We think, that the new system will be done very soon. It isn't as hard as the full customizable version.

Server connection to the website.

You'll still require a network connection due to statistics and updates. This connection will be used for Game Events (X-Mas and all that stuff) and more.

Our targets for now.

  1. Update the mod.
  2. Setup the website.
  3. Release the first open beta.

Bye,
Bude113.

promise me you'll never die. I've had 3 mods in the last week declared dead.

I wish I'd promise that, but I won't stop working on this mod.

We'll release 2 versions.

The first one is the Full-HD version. 9,00+GB diskspace required.
The second one is the Normal version. I don't think it will have more than 400 MB.
