First Strike is a Star Wars total conversion modification for Battlefield 2142. The goal of First Strike is to totally immerse the players into the amazing universe of Star Wars by presenting the most accurate representations of famous Star Wars locales, weapons, and characters, and combining them with exciting, fast paced gameplay and features new to the Battlefield scene. Within this mod you'll find yourself as a soldier of the Galactic Empire or as a freedom fighter for the Rebel Alliance. You'll fight across lovingly detailed recreations of various Star Wars locations with a wide array of weapons and vehicles.
Nice video, don't get the music but eh.
u need first strike or no?
this the same song from the gears of war trailer
nice but to similar to gow
When I made this video I didn't know about the Gears of War trailer. I tried to make the video fit with the song in every possible way, imo it worked out perfectly.
this mod looks awesomely great! and the music?? another song could'ave been chosen
still this mod is pretty much worth the try!
GARY JULLES - MAD WORLD
He was asking why they used this music, not what the title was.
It doesn't make much sense, it's great machinima, but I agree with some of the other people, it's no good for an action packed trailer.
Who sings this song?
- PR-0927
Why? Huh? You like it? -_-
Okay, so i have Battlefield 2142. My bro comes home and says his friend recommended this to him. So i go check it out. I watch this video, and I knew I had to get this mod... (Great job on the video, and i think music added a nice touch.
What program did you use to get that footage? I really want a program so i can make my own video's like this
I used Adobe Premiere to edit, Battlerecorder to get the footage, and fraps to record it.
This song is titled "Mad World" and was originally recorded by Tears For Fears.
This version was made by another guy who has not enough brain to make his own music and his useless name can be found at the end of the video.
great song but dont fit^^
Agree
I like the Song too but when i heard it aghh...
Its Star Wars - John Williams NOT Donnie Darko - Michael Andrews(Mad World)
I spent 26 hours making sure that the song "fit". it's not john williams but are you telling me you have never seen star wars movie clips redone with linkin park music? I don't think so. Tell me how this song does not fit with the video. Every scene starts on the first beat of a measure. You may not like the song with star wars but that's your opinion. Every single scene goes in harmony with the song's rhythm and beat. The reason I used this song was because it would attract those who are not hardcore Stars Wars fans. If it makes you guys happier, my next video will probably be using one of John William's songs or something similar to it.
Nice vid
why is everyone arguing over the song? surely the video and production of the mod is what this video shows, and it is absolutely stunning.
and anyway, i think it fits XD nice work
Dam what arte you saying this music owns ^^... love it GJ.
Sorry to chime in like this, but that music is SO wrong for a BF2142 Star Wars mod. It's depressing and makes you want to cry in your bed, not want to play a game. I'm an experienced sound designer that has worked on games, movies, etc., so I'm not just talking out of my ***. For a mod release, you need something explosive and exciting that energizes the people that are most likely to download it...and it doesn't matter if you changed scenes on the first measure of the song, it bears no relevance to the overall impact of the video. Just think if the new Indiana Jones movie came out with Radiohead's "No Surprises" playing in the commercial...epic fail.
To prove my point, the usage of the song was already an issue before I ever posted. Instead of people talking about the mod itself, there's a small controversy surrounding the song instead. That right there tells you that you made a mistake. It comes across as one the work of one of those kids on YouTube that like putting their favorite songs into gameplay videos that have no connection to the song itself. You want people ONLY talking about the mod, not your poor choice of background music. Don't get me wrong, the song is incredible and I loved it the first time I heard it in Donnie Darko...but it simply doesn't fit. I apologize if any of this offends you, but I'm speaking with 20 years of experience behind me and I'm just trying to offer some advice.
If you're interested, I'd be willing to write a track for the video if you ever entertain the idea of remaking it. Just let me know sometime and I can submit a few samples of different styles of music.
Other than that, the mod itself looks great. I can't wait to play it.
Tell me if you like tomorrow's trailer...
AV1TRON, In case you haven't noticed, war IS depressing. People die in ways beyond your tiny little minds immediate comprehension. In Star Wars war is just a terrible and as gritty as it is in real life. If you played Republic commando, you might know that, and also if you had half a mind to think with. War sucks, its scary, and terrifying. You should want to go cry in your bed.
Whoa, Irc96...you're a hostile little gamer, aren't you?
So, you're saying that in a GAME based on a science fiction MOVIE, war is "just as terrible and as gritty as it is in real life".
So, do you think all of those stormtrooper actors really died filming the movie? Do you think those pixels in all of the Star Wars games will never come back to life? Now who has half a mind to think with?
I was offering what is called "constructive criticism". I love the song and love the mod, but I don't necessarily think the two go together. It was simply my opinion.
I have an opinion about you also, but I don't think it would be appropriate to share it here with everyone. Have a nice day.
Actually, Michael Andrews asked Gary Jules to record "Mad World" song for the soundtrack to Donnie Darko...Gary Jules didn't just record his version and then run around going "Look what I did!". If it weren't for the movie, this version would have never existed.
It's a nice video, I like the song, it fits properly. That's my opinion.
It just makes you wonder, why the hell couldn't Pandemic come up with half the game this mod looks to be, baring in mind I haven't played it yet.
I think the moody theme of that song is perfect for the content of the movie. More to the point, would you care to put some names to your projects avitron, lest we presume you to be talking out of your arse.
Anyway, I digress, and I will re-install that spiteful piece of software known as BF2142 at the next convenient opportunity, and promptly install said mod
I don't get why everyone thinks the song doesn't fit. It's fine! It's an artistic choice. A re-imagining of Star Wars. Love it, great choice!
let me guess, the probe droid is the accipiter?
People think it doesn't fit because they think Star Wars can't be taken seriously and in any sort of emotional dimension. Personally I think it was a good artistic choice to try something different from the norm of BANGBANGSPLOSIONVIDEOGAMETRAILERs. Furthermore given this is a mod, who gives a damn what audience might be disgruntled by mere disagreement over music used in a trailer; I say there's not much, if any, that is lost at the end of the day. Keep it up guys.
This mod is based on teamwork, not run around and kill people. Therefore it has some emotion to it. For those of you who still prefer john williams in a star wars video check out my new trailer, personally I think this one is much better and more cinematic.
This mod looks crazy. I'm surprised I didn't find it earlier. I gotta play it. And the music is fine!!!
this is so wrong
This is a good video but the song dos not go good but good mod and good video nice work
You're a pinky **** for using this song.
