A journeyman programmer who has been trying for years to be a game developer. Having never release anything more than several weak tech demos, the quest has a ways to go. A recent discovery of game competitions show hope of a fresh start at being less of a coder and more of a game creator.

Software development is my passion, study, and day job.

Background
Originally I was planning on rambling a bit about my past, but that bored even me, so I figured I would keep this short. I do write a lot of code every week of my life, but I've never had much success as a game developer. Usually obsessing over the technical details or not focusing on a minimal viable product has led me to never complete a game once. I want to fix this! Oh and I've never had a blog before, so don't hate me if this is pretty loose.

Goals
I have two major personal goals that I've settled on this year:

  • The first being to start publishing the stuff that I work on in the form of public repos of code (open source), demo releases (channel for feedback), and blog posts (rubber ducky therapy unless anyone actually likes the games that I start to make).
  • The second would be that I would like to start joining in on some of the public game jams and competitions that have been going on. Never have I participated in one before. They seem like a whole bunch of fun, and a perfect way to condition engineers like myself to stop getting lost in the weeds of a project and focus on a incremental development cycle.

Conclusion
I hope to post again soon about either game engine code, or the start of a game. I've got my eye on the upcoming Ludum Dare this April which I'm absolutely going to join. Please feel free to check in any time if you are interested in any of the things I mentioned above or if you are just bored. Thanks for listening to my ramblings, talk to you again soon.
