As evidenced by the title, the game's story takes place during the Lizardmageddon in Brazil. The Lizardmageddon, as the pun implies, is an Armageddon done by lizards; that’s a vengeance against the human race, in response to the crimes against the reptiles. The Lizardmageddon begins with widespread attacks on alligator farms – as well as many other establishments alike –, where such reptiles are farmed for their meat, leather and other products. The widespread attacks soon intensify, spreading destruction far and wide; many cities are completely destroyed, and thousands of people are ruthlessly exterminated. Even the military cannot stop the attacks, because the Reptilian monsters have extraordinary attributes – such as super-strength and many other superpowers as well.
In “Reptilia Squad – Episodes of the Lizardmageddon in Brazil” –, the game mechanics are entirely adapted from “Reptilia Squad RPG”. The characters’ actions are determined according their attributes, skills and other characteristics – constantly taken into account –, as well as everything else.
The gameplay is totally linear (particularly because of the story): the plot is already pre-determined – entirely –, and is communicated through regular cutscenes that usually occur before and after each level. As well, it’s possible for the player to engage in many side-quests. In these missions, similar to the mini-game (Mercenaries) from “Resident Evil 3”, the player is assigned to eliminate as many enemies as possible within a time limit; the player starts off with two minutes (approximately), getting extra time (at least +2 seconds) for every enemy killed. Other sidequests are similar to the Battle Game, featured in “Resident Evil – Code Veronica X” –, except for the context.
Such bonus stages are different from the missions, because the objectives are optional.
The game features a mission-based gameplay, where the victory conditions are quite simple (but not necessarily easy): achieve the predetermined objectives at each stage; there are many objectives, such as rescue the captive reptiles – mostly alligators, caimans and crocodiles –, as well as their sympathizers, protect them against enemy fire, etc.
