Report RSS Review on Cinders (Demo)

Note: the rating of 8 is because, for some reason, I can't rate higher than that. So, down goes average score...which I really would just go away. Who needs scores anyway.
Regardless

CONCEPT: Interesting. I like how you make cute little references to the Cinderella story. And more over, you didn't just slap on a lazy retelling of the old tale. I can appreciate that.

MUSIC: fairly decent. Rather relaxing...

MUSIC DESIGN (i think that's the terminology): it changed with the
situation, somewhat sensibly as well. I think that's kinda the definition of good background music design.

INTRODUCTIONS: Normally in visual novels, it can be somewhat hard to tell who's talking, and which names go with which people. I did like how you highlighted the one who is talking, which does help a bit, if you notice it, as the icons for the 2 sisters are the same. Also, you did this whole little animation for each of them, telling which one of them is associated with the name. I like it.

CHARACTER DIFFERENTIATION: Definitely very easy to tell everyone apart at a glance. Very nice, and varied character design.
The line, "If you're in trouble, it means I get a free pass today.": Wow...that rings so true in situations with abusive parents. I would know.

ARTWORK: The scenery, especially at the lake, is kinda...beautiful. And I don't normally even mention this, as I don't have a good eye for "art". It looks like a very natural and almost seems hand-drawn landscape.

ANIMATION: Decent enough for a graphic novel. I REALLY wish a lot of these characters' lips didn't awkwardly move like they do though. There's even a bit of animation on the background of most scenes which really gives it a nice little touch, though it's nothing massive. I'm also not sure what to think of the eyes moving. It's creepy as all-get-out.

DIALOGUE: They all kinda make sense for their character. They certain build the character a good bit.
Choice in the dialogue: I must admit, it's pretty damn nice. Even rivaling Mass Effect in this respect. Alot of the options aren't like super easy, obvious choices, and I had to basically force myself to YOLO it in some of them. And, hey had an immediate impact.

CHOICE IN THE DIALOGUE: I must admit, it's pretty damn nice. Even rivaling Mass Effect in this respect....in my opinion. A lot of the options aren't like super easy, obvious choices, and I had to basically force myself to "Yolo" it in some of them. And, they felt like they had an immediate impact, much like Mass Effect. Unlike ME, I don't know how many of these choices really make an impact later on, which make those choices feel even harder. DEMO LENGTH RATING: "My god, where did my life just go?" A couple hours of the demo alone. That's impressive. Most companies wouldn't dare to make something even half an hour long. I commend you on these point. You also weren't too...cliff hanger-like with the ending, which many try to do to keep a strong compulsion to buy it. Again, I must say, I appreciate it.

OVERALL: Pretty much a must-buy, if you like visual novels, or at least would give them the time-of-day. It's a really well done story based on the Cinderella tell, and then warps it around, and tells an interesting, deep story.I really wish I had the money to put out for this.
