Report RSS Instagram: A Developer's Goldmine?

Posted by on

Hello, friends! This time I'd like to touch on the subject of Instagram, and I want you to hear me out.

I have tried Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr (blech, that didn't last long), and various other social media platforms and even Youtube videos in order to build some sort of following for my work - to show off my achievements as they happen, my progress as I learn. I have found no better platform to do that in than Instagram. The reason I say that is because the hashtags you can add bring your post to several thousand people at once, in a live feed, and hundreds of thousands that search for that tag will see your post pop up in their results at least once. This has been majorly helpful to me personally as I'm not a very wordy person, but I understand how hashtags work to some degree thanks to dealing with Twitter (trust me, Instagram actually is better about them) and I enjoy sharing images more than anything. I'm a very visual learner and visual person; something of interest usually has to be visually appealing for me to notice it, though I'm a touch particular in what I look up because I am seeking a certain look or purpose.

I created a new Instagram account (@sephiriaminer if you want to find me!) and in the few days it has been active with me sharing an image or two at least once a day, as well as using proper hashtags that are relevant to the content, I already have 22 followers. I joined on July 6th; it is July 18th. That's very fast growth for me, comparatively speaking in regards to other platforms I've used. I've been playing around in Unity for the past few days - learning new techniques, relearning old ones that I forgot, and teaching myself their scripting methods via the API reference manual. I've already achieved a couple of things I have never been able to do before, and you can actively keep up with my progress on my Instagram as well as here. I will try to add some of the images I captured later on in the gallery.

My final note is this; Instagram may be popular with photographers, artists, and makeup lovers, but it is equally good for showing off your work behind the scenes and promoting your intent. You can really connect with the people who follow you via the comments, and you can build a following very easily with a few tips and tricks. I'll compile my personal tricks into a later blog post or an article that I'll share with you as a way of saying thank you for being a friend!

Take care now, and I'll see you in the next one!
