Scarborough holiday 1978 - Midway's 'Boot Hill' game was in one of the amusement arcades - my first taste of electronic gaming - I blew 3 weeks pocket money in an afternoon and have never regretted a penny of it since - from the speccy 48K to my quad core.

Report RSS Water Plant arena

There were more than a few drops of rain in our last bank holiday weekend - so I used the time to get some mapping finished. The water plant is virtually completed now and looks better than I envisioned at first - I wanted to stick with urban decay for RGB2 but didn't fancy another ruined city - so the water plant is here as an alternative.
There was an old Victorian era waterworks near where I grew up - this is my homage to all that rusted cast ironwork we used to swing from as kids - it's a good job they taught me to swim early on! The dangerous cisterns are all filled in and bricked up now but 35 years ago they were like something from a film set - all huge pipes leaking water from a hundred cracks - sinking mud and lush ferns - the air round them stayed cool even in the heat of the long summer holidays and the carnivorous diving beetles in those weed covered pools were as big as golf balls...there's a little bit of those long happy days exploring built into this map!
