Report RSS Operation Intrude N313: Project OUTER HEAVEN

Posted by on

It's been quite a while since I've decided to post a blog on good ol' iDB. It may seem I've been quiet recently due to the lack of posts and what not, but I've been working on some low key projects with various people.

I've been contacted by new and familiar devs to work on their projects which range from tactical style RPG's to comical phone apps featuring a bird whose only goal is to crap on as many people as possible before time is up. I try to keep my horizons as horizontal as possible and I put a little of myself into each track.

I recently saw an article for a revived remake of the original Metal Gear for the MSX2. I was extremely interested from my first glance and looked into it...I soon realized the project was on indieDB! I quickly wrote up a message and sent it his way. As what I do with all project attempts, I decided to forget I ever sent it and just wait to see if anything happens.

A few days go by and I get a notification via email that the Outer Heaven dev got back to me. He said in a nutshell, "Your music is great! You don't seem to have much orchestra though. I was looking for something more like the recent Phantom Pain OST."

My weakest point, in my eyes, was orchestral music. A big musical contender in any audio/visual medium. I didn't have much orchestral music in my portfolio because of my lack of confidence in the genre, but also I've never had much of an excuse to really try and flex my composing muscles into that semi-unfamiliar territory...

I tried to give it a shot as I told him I would arrange an orchestral version of "Theme of Tara" from the original Metal Gear that he was recreating. He was all for it, and so I got to work.

Within one day, I had a completed demo ready. I sent it to him and got the job on the spot! I'm happy to announce my involvement in the upcoming fan made remake of Metal Gear codenamed...
