SEGA & Relic apologise for 'any offence caused' by Company of Heroes 2

SEGA and Relic have issued a joint statement apologising for "any offence caused" by Company of Heroes 2's controversial campaign.

In a statement provided to GameFront, SEGA and Relic said they are "working closely with their Russian distribution partner Softclub 1C over claims concerning Company of Heroes 2 and the historical context of the game from a Russian perspective.

"Whilst investigations in to these concerns are ongoing we would like to express our regret at any offence caused to those affected by these claims."

SEGA's Russian distributor pulled Company of Heroes 2 earlier this week following complaints from Russian players over the game's portrayal of Soviet military history.

The discussion prompted users to attack the game's Metacritic score, lowering the average user review score to 1.5/10.
