I was just enjoying my lunch and pondering the rise of Darth Vader throughout the SW movies and books and it occurred to me that Anakin Skywalker was the first Sith throughout the rule of 2 to be named by his master instead of having chosen his own moniker. For some reason Darth Sidious was compelled to name his new apprentice and would be eventual successor like some sort of puppy just brought home to the family. Was Palpatine perhaps worried that the sniveling, emo, New Kids on the Block wannabe standing before him might have chosen a name such as "Darth Brokenhearted" Or "Lord Sniffles"? Seeing this weakness in his much coveted new apprentice one would assume there might have been apprehension on his part, perhaps resulting in some further test of his dark side nature or at the very least resulting in The Master's having paid closer attention to him throughout the years as Vader/Skywalker occasionally dipped into the light side of the force to use Jedi Healing on his burns and internal injuries. For all his genius in plotting and executing the destruction of the Jedi utilizing all the stealth and secrecy envisioned by Darth Bane during his formation of the Rule of 2, he eventually Darth Sidious failed the entire Sith order by becoming complacent and over confident in his subordinates. 1000 years of the Sith hiding in the shadows, existing in the minds of the rest of the galaxy as nothing more than evil history all wasted by putting too much trust in one pathetic, pretty boy, crybaby who essentially turned to the dark side because he missed his Mommy. I will always respect Darth Vader for the Dark Lord of the Sith that he became, but his roots and eventual betrayal will always be viewed by me with contempt as he was the one who destroyed the original and unbroken Sith order. Fortunately the dark side itself will always endure.
