Report RSS A Day (or Month) in the Life of Me

Posted by on

Sometimes, it isn't easy being me. Early this past May, I went on a cruise (which my parents paid for) and had a blast! That was, however, a brief respite in what has been a terrible month and a half.

Before I went on the cruise, I was diagnosed with a kidney stone. For those of you who have never had a kidney stone before, try to imagine the worst pain you've ever been in. Now imagine that pain is ten times worse and extending from just below your ribs to halfway down your leg. That's how much pain I was in. Then, a miracle happened. Just a week before we left for the cruise, the pain just stopped. I thought that was the end of it! It was until after the cruise.

Fast forward to two days after the cruise. I had just picked my husband up at work, and we were on our way to get breakfast. As I was driving, I started to feel the all-too-familiar cramping sensation in my side. At that moment, my husband looks over at me and asks, "Are you okay?" I replied, "No, another asteroid just found my kidney." Made an appointment with the doctor who says I need a CT scan. At this point, I'm praising the Insurance Gods since CT scans are fully covered.

For a good two and a half weeks after that, I just felt like crap. I had no energy, I didn't have an appetite, and I kept feeling twinges of something in my side as if my kidney was teasing me. I was lucky, though. I didn't need surgery or any other procedure to help things along.

So, how am I doing now? I couldn't be better! I feel 100% again despite the fact I got into a car accident which was thankfully minor (bumper cover and fender damaged), but that's a story for another day.

Live long and prosper,

Jen
