I'm Chris. I would like to make games but all that comes out are prototypes and mountains of assets. Am I doing this right?

Okay, if anyone would read that blog, I'm very likely to get flamed to death but I'm very very upset right now and I gotta write about it.

I was browsing the news of ModDB today and I saw ... a brand new l4d campaign.
I thought, wow, awesome.
That screenshot looks awesome and it is for l4d1.
And to top that all, Noesis made it.
So it is very likely to be good.
So I read the article and then played the campaign ... and I felt like
vomiting all over my monitor.
I mean, it still is in beta stages alright.
But honestly, the mapping was terrible.
And I am not talking about brushworking only.
The lighting is rather plain, so is the flow.
Anyway.
I'm sure, very sure, that they are going to fix all issues and problems the people tell them about.
They are the oh-so-awesome Noesis Interactive after all.

Now to my point.
This rather unfinished thing gets featured on the news rotation...
But honestly, is this worth it?
If you ask me for unfinished things to put into the news rotation I could tell you like 5 things which are worth to be there.
But this?
Incredible.
Okay, EndRage();
You can go on and flame me now :P

Hey man. I think that your completely justified in your frustration.

I've never been able to grasp the logic of releasing ( and promoting ) an early beta into the community when it's by no means ready for play. It's almost as if the developers want the players to essentially do their beta testing for them. A little later they use the negative feedback regarding all that's wrong, to write a patch or actually finish the mod and then offer it up as V1.02. It's a skewed practice that shouldn't be allowed to happen.

Some groups may actually be content to drop a steaming heap of **** on us and go from there.

Some are just getting caught up in the idealism that there's some incredible urgency to push out their release ( sacrificing quality and self respect ) or something disastrous will happen. This being the saddest case. I've seen so many really skilled individuals, groups, and potentially great mods fall into this trap and it's truly disappointing and shouldn't be misguidedly supported. But It's their decision.

I may have to do a blog on this too. It's just happening too much.

It's made by the same guy that made the Cold Case campaign for L4D1.

And what has that to do with the fact that I am kinda upset with the latest news rotation?
