I love retro strategy games, and have been making them since 2002. I've done 7DRL (seven day rogue like) every year since 2010. Spoke at IRDC USA. I Made "Approaching Infinity", the space adventure roguelike and "XenoBloom", the game of life evolved. "Core Conquest", a fast-paced highly-configurable space RTS, is coming in 2017. Current project is "The Curse Of Yendor" , a tactical rogue-like terrain deformer. Releases on Steam 02/17/17.

Report RSS 6 Months in the life of Approaching Infinity

I’ve been working on Approaching Infinity since August 2013. I stay up till 2am programming, wake up at 8 or before with the kids, and work 2nd shift. During the day I find a few half-hours here and there, and at work, I do what I can when I have the time. I work really hard on this project!

October was press month. November was the kickstarter (successful!) December was “thank god I get to go back to programming!”. January was upgrade to beta-status. February was quest month, and March is “take care of all the little things that have needed to get done.” April is supposed to be “Polish and RELEASE!”, and that’s still my intention, although I'm starting to consider May as the release target, to ensure top quality.
The second half of March is all about getting more of the little features put into A.I. , and also incorporating some of the stuff I used in Eden Sector into the main game. So if you’ve got something that you just can’t live without, get in touch!

People have even won the game! To achieve Beta status, I needed to put in a victory condition. Then the posts started coming in ;) James Shewmaker's was the first:
