Spoiler alert

1. The First Order went " Lol we got em guys pull back the Ties will just hammer them from afar until they run out of fuel. Okay, lets crack open that 25BBY whine bottle......OH shi!" Insert the Raddus hyperspacing right into the First Order fleet. Actually, this is how the whole "Battlestar Galactica" scene of the movie seemed to me. I guess the military strategy went out the window because of the plot, but in the end, we all know how this war is going to end the First Order is going to be defeated just like the Empire ( I am hoping not long live the Empire.)

2. This seemed more like a plot device than anything, the Death Star had a hypermatter reactor but there was no mention of that needing to be refueled. So I guess somebody didn't do their homework before they started drafting the plot.

1. Th atmosphere presented in the movie dosen't support that. They seemed eager to destroy the Raddus ASAP.

They'll probably wave off the whole throwing fighters at the Raddus thing with there being anti-aircraft batteries all over the ship. Still, even by swarming, that shouldn't matter much. On the other hand those shields took a hell of a beating (mon calamari shields indeed) for a long time and still held up, so puny TIE fighter lasers wouldn't do much. But then again a small squadron got inside the shield and blew up the hangar and bridge earlier in the film. It's a good point you brought up and I can't think of a good answer. As for your second question, not sure what the lore on those is in the new canon.

I must have been under a rock because apparently a lot of Star Wars fans are actually upset by the ending of the movie, so let me ask this did you guys like how the movie ended as a Star Wars fan were you okay with the ending?

You can read more about peoples issues here and here and here

Avclub.com

Newsweek.com

Change.org

The petition has ended and the creator has no intention of moving it forward to my understanding but still what did you guys think of the ending and whatnot that lead to all this.

I was going to write a massive rant, but I think I'll post a video from someone who matches my salt level with this film.

Actually in my eyes both points are not actually logic holes per se, but they center on certain issues that have not been touched upon consequently in the past. Obviously the old EU doesn't matter anyway as far as the new movies are concerned, so everything that hasn't been touched on in the older movies is on the table I guess.

1. It was stated that the rebel ships could outrun the First Order fleet on sublight engines or at least keep them at a constant distance where their weapons were ineffective against the shields. Now, we always assume that fighters are actually faster than capital ships because they're smaller and it just feels right that those big behemoths are slow, but the capital ships could very well be faster, at least when travelling in a straight line. They have way bigger reactors and more powerful engines.
But as I said, even the old lore has been at best inconsistent about sublight travel speed of different ship classes.
Then again, it could have been just FO command being dumb. But from a tactial standpoint most movies fights that aren't based on real events are really, REALLY stupid, so I'm not overly bothered by it.

What bothers me more is the fact that the Resistance ships ARE stated to be faster, when they were an aging MonCal cruiser and some support frigates apparently cobbled together from random pieces from Watto's backyard as opposed to supposedly state-of-the-art FO warships.

2. Actually, hyperdrives pretty much always used fuel and it makes sense that they do. It never really was in issue in the other movies because there the hyperdrives tended to break down rather than run out of fuel, but for example in the TOR MMO game every jump with your ship costs you money because you have to pay for refueling afterwards.
Hyperspace is a weird thing in of itself that has never been fully explained in the lore and is not even fully understood in-universe. Basically it is a alternate dimension of space-time that lets you travel faster than lightspeed. In theory it would allow for all sorts of weird mindfuckery, just like the Warp in Warhammer 40k, but Star Wars never really touched on the potential of that. There were a few stories that for example had time travel due to malfunctioning hyperdrives but it never crosses anyones mind to purposefully attempt time travel even though that could be an absolute game changer. The Wookieepedia page on that is quite an interesting read though if you want to dive into it: Starwars.wikia.com

Anyway, to initiate a hyperspace jump you'll need a substantial amount of energy, so that part of the plot actually makes perfect sense.

Though it seems unlikely that nobody ever thought of suicide-jumping into something big before or better yet shoot objects through hyperspace if it has such a devastating outcome.
(I know about the Galaxy Gun, but that is old EU and while it's missiles were equipped with hyperdrives, they were not using the jump itself to do their damage, but simply to hit targets over great distances using sublight engines to home in after jumping near them and then basically triggering a good old huge nuclear explosion.)

Description

So I watched the Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and I have a couple of question:

**Spoiler Alert**
.
.
.
.
.
1. What happened to First Order's fighter complement? A Resurgent class should have 72 of them and there were 12 Resurgent class with the Mega-class SSD. That means the First Order had 864 Tie fighter to throw at the Raddus!

2. Since when Hypermater reactors need "fuel"?
