The funny part about this is that the first were rarely persecuted for ethnic or even religious regions but rather due to accumulated wealth (jews making their children swallow gold, silver and other valuable items in order to keep their wealth instead of leaving the wealth behind and flee reveals how much they cared about their children), while the second have been persecuted for their ethnicity, religion be it by one another or by foreign powers with only their few rich people being treated well to keep them pleased.
Honestly western people only see wealth the religion and ethnicity issues are just an excuse to steal that wealth.
Obviously jews and muslims cannot be categorized as just good or bad, both have good and bad people but usually good people are sacrificed because of the actions of the bad despite their origin.
As a portuguese I can say that our country fought with muslims for hundreds of years and yet we have one of the oldest muslim communities in Europe and we never fought against jews but they were expelled from our country around 1500.
Muslims were simple and peaceful people with little influence on the events of the country. Jews were usually wealthy (mid class to upper class citizens in most cases) and actively involved themselves in politics. Obviously a king cannot be the puppet of both jews and the catholic church, so...
Note: i am saying jews and muslins in general but this doesn't mean all muslims or all jews were that way or did those things.

Actually, we helped and were helped by jews for centuries, even the iberian muslims had large jewish communities wich they actually believed were supperiorly qualified for certain tasks, like surgery. Jews faced persecution for centurries and still have helped shape the history of most of all the european nations and respective cultures. Persecution of a group of individuals based solely on their culture or ethneticity is medieval and wrong.
So does that mean that Jewish do have more "Roots" in Europe then in Palestine now called Israel?

Allowing jews to settle on a land of their own was a good idea (relatively good as nations with too little ethnic/religious variety are never good).
Allowing jews to settle on a land that was already occupied by other people was a bad idea.
A person has to ask: how many people died since Israel was created fighting for a "sacred land" which has seen so much rivers of blood throughout History that it seems more like a tribute to Khorne the Lord of Skulls?
Why not allow them to settle on a area of land with no one living on it? There are places which can be settled and yet have no one living there (not necessarily the best places on Earth but it's not like Israel is the most fertile area in the world).

I know that jews were persecuted for centuries and i don't deny their positive contributions but as i said they were persecuted mostly because they had money and power (Portuguese and Spanish inquisition targetted the jews more for their wealth and political influence than religious reasons, the religion was the excuse used to get the masses to do the inquisition's job of enforcing the rule of the Church easier) and not because they were a different ethnic group.
Not all jews were expelled from Portugal and Spain nor all of them were persued by the Inquisition and other organizations, some jewish communities in Portugal are as old or even older than the muslim communities. Most groups of jews persecuted had some influence (which doesn't mean that all jews sentenced to death shared that influence but they had to sacrifice more than the targets to avoid suspicions) and so were a threat to any other group that wanted power/wealth.
A rival merchant/artisan/"banker"/... would often denounce someone to get rid of that person and that happened on the lower classes and also on the upper classes. Obviously some upper classes could avoid persecution by bribing the persecuters but since the person could be executed and the assets seized sometimes the bribe didn't work.

I dunno, seems to me "the west" (if there is such a thing) is simply a lot more accommodating to Jews because when they get offended, they simply sue you, instead of going on a violent rampage.
The salafists need lawyers, not fighters :D

It's funny and sad to see how even here, the christians are simply overlooked and forgotten. The christianity is getting bashed everywhere around the world, not to mention the christians in some let's say "Third World Countries", that are getting literally bashed for wearing a cross in the public.
Oh well seriously, this discussion is going to be too serious for this group. I would think twice before posting anything what deals with the religion, it's a very private topic for some people and it's one of the best ways to produce epic shitstorms.
