The primary meaning of the word
"love" in Scripture is a "purposeful commitment to
sacrificial action for another." In the Bible it is a fact that loving
God is equated with obeying His Word. The two are inseparable.
In a modern world of today,
love is now commonly understood as loving someone because of something. But
that love is selfish love…Why?
Because we only love someone
to get something but when they don’t have it then we won’t love them…
You see love is defined in
the bible like this….
But now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but
the greatest of these is love. - Corinthians 1 13:13
Faith hope and love are the
principal doctrines of Christian living. Love is the greatest of these three.
But why do we love?
We love, because God first
loved us. We should love our neighbors as we love ourselves. For when we love
our neighbors then we also love God. But love must also be shown not only by
praying to a person and helping him emotionally but also helping him
materially.
How to love someone the
Christian way….
You see Christian love is
shown in two different ways Corporal works of mercy which is about helping
someone physically and materially. This is the most noticeable kind of
Christian love as we cannot hide the goodness that we are making by performing
these works. The second one is Spiritual Works of mercy which aims to help
someone psychologically, emotionally and spiritually. If we simply do these to
our neighbors then we are doing the same to Christ. We can also show love by
forgiving our neighbors to all the sins they have done to us. If you do this
then there is no doubt that God will also forgive us..
So I encourage you to start
loving today and spread the love of God…:D
