To be completely fair, Jesus is kinda better camouflaged here than the soldier is ;P
It's that soldiers actually think god is watching out for them, as well as every other soldier who died in all previous wars.
Yeah, Jesus's protection rates aren't very trustworthy...
And, of course, let's not forgett that enemy soldiers belief that God is watching them too. :) Same is for sport.
