I, and I'm sure you are too, have had enough of spoiled fan bases tearing at overly generous developers for not giving them things that they have been getting for free for ages, but when the developers ask for some cash for their work, they are met by anger, and all around idiocy, this group is here to stop that.

Post news Report RSS L4D2 Has Twice The Amount Of Pre-Orders As The Original

Also, Valve made claims that they were still working on L4D1 DLC Official.

Eurogamer.net
You see what happens when you guys act without thinking? You get proven wrong.

And I should say, you've been proven, rather embarrassingly, wrong.
Valve just reported that L4D2 has twice the amount of pre-orders as L4D1, showing the overall weakness of the Boycott's members. Wasn't the whole point of it to "cause financial losses if demands aren't met?"

Wow, that's some nice financial losses, yup, you boycotters sure showed us, you know, with doubling their pre-sales and all that.

This can mean two things:

1. The boycott's not working.

2. Boycotters are still pre-ordering L4D2, thus, making their boycott invalid and them hypocrites.

Or, as a bonus, there's a third:

3. Both the boycott's not working because the boycotters are pre-ordering L4D2, and, they're just not enough to make a difference.

This is the best news a person could ask for, the developers are getting what they deserved, also, read this:

"I think there was a little bit of confusion that we created
unintentionally, by announcing a sequel and not having the complete
story ready: announcing it and not saying, there's still a lot of stuff
being worked on for Left 4 Dead 1, and the mod tools will work with
both games,
" explained Lombardi in our recent interview.

Uh huh, yeah, so that completely diminishes the "real" reason the boycotters are doing their boycott, they automatically thought that just because L4D2 was coming out, Valve had lied to them, when all they were doing was just being IMPATIENT.
Hopefully, this boycott will wash over, with AFIA, the Valve Game Devs, and the whole entire Mod DB and Gaming community declared the winners, and these little angry nerds declared loosers.

But, winning wasn't the objective, our goal wasn't to win, we'll never win, the AFIA isn't only agains the boycott, you know, but the objective was to see to it that credit is given to where credit is due, and that's what happened.

Hopefully, this is the end of this story.
And the end of the stupidest acts ever commited by Mod DB users or otherwise.

Here's my advice, what we've learned from this, well, not we, but the boycotters:
Don't make judgements before it's time to make judgements, you should've waited until you were ABSOLUTALY CERTAIN that Valve wasn't going to give you guys DLC, and even if they weren't, you guys don't deserve it, you guys are just fans because of the free stuff, not respect, you don't deserve to be called fans, just disrespectfull FREELOADERS.

According to Planet Half-Life, Lombardi announced there is DLC on the way, and will be revealed at the end of summer. ******* SHOCKING LOL AMIRITE? No. We all knew it'd come. Apparently patience just doesn't come cheap (or easily).
L4D2 -deserves- twice the pre-orders, or more specifically, the staff MORE than deserves twice what L4D got. I just need to get my *** in gear and pre-order.

I agree you more then 100%, these are the principles in which this group was founded on.

Credit should be given where credit is due.
No group of angry little nerds should prevent that.

How ironic you should say that.

Patience? Do you wait 1 year for the donut with your coffee?

donuts and coffee are one thing, now, an game and a sequel are other thing
of course i wouldn't be waiting for donut for 1 year with a coffee mug in my hand, but i would wait 4 years or more for a game sequel, an example: Half life 2 episode 1, L4D2(of course), and waiting for our delayied, good'ol HL2EP 3

I agree, I think that Games and Films are alike in that respect, you will wait to go and see a film at the cinema (if its worth it) instead of getting some dodgy camera copy off the internet with shadows getting up halfway through it. It reminds me of when the HL2 code was stolen, the whole modding community actually tried helping Valve find the culprit instead of trying to find the download... Which was nice of us...

@ AlCool I would if the donut required skilled professionals that have to create, balance, model, animate, skin, script, (The list is too long to post :P) an entire Game that takes out months-years of their life to create just so a group of impatient twits who don't know what the capital of New York is can complain at how they are too lazy and ignorant to spend a measly 20-50$ on something that costs a hefty sum to create. Also, the release of something like that for free can potentially bankrupt a company resulting in a loss for everyone including peoples jobs that require a higher education, sense of detail and dedication...

This post is gonna be so long I might as well have made it an article, lol.

First and foremost, this just goes to show what happens when you go off and jump to conclusions. Admittedly, yes I originally was on the side of the boycott. Then, several things happened that changed my mind.

1. I realized to be a bit patient. The reasons I thought like them was because I personally felt that L4D1 wasn't the best game Valve had ever made, and when I learned that they had promised more content, I was upset. Then, I remembered how reliable Valve has been in the past, in part because the Orange box is 5 games for the price of one AND when I bought a boxed CS:S, I got HL2D, DoD:S, and HL2:LC for FREE. Name me one other company that gives you deals like that!

2. The boycotters were getting ridiculous! They were fighting like 5-year old girls! Not just them, but the people on both sides. I couldn't help but facepalm...

3. L4D2 looks so much better then L4D1. I'm absolutely positive that L4D2 will be a great game to play with my friends, and even with strangers. (that last part sounded a little odd O_o)

Next, out of the 343,049 people that are members at ModDB, only 127 are part of the L4D2 boycott. Now, I realize that it's not exactly a representative number, seeing as how a whole bunch of those users either don't log on anymore, are banned, or haven't logged on recently. Also, Valve's content delivery system, STEAM, has over 20,000,000 registered accounts. 154,590 of those registered members are part of the L4D group. Compare that to the boycott's 37,413 members. You'll find that the boycott is puny.

actually, coach guy, your opinion is very well made and especific, and remember that 53% of the "boycotters" pre-ordered L4D2, just had to look at the steam group and some profiles to know

(continued from above)

Onto my final point, pre-odering. The article above says it all pretty much. My only thing here is that I won't be pre-ordering. I rarely do now. After I pre-ordered FC2 and was extremely disappointed, I've avoided it. Since then, the only games I've pre-ordered have been CoD:WaW, The Sims 3, and Modern Warfare 2. The reason I pre-ordered was because I knew I would absolutely be blown away. WaW slightly disappointed me, but was still worth it. The Sims 3 was definitely worth it, but that's a different story. MW2 will most likely be worth it. There's about a 5% chance I'll be dissappointed. As for L4D2, I wasn't impressed by the first to say the least. I'm definitely gonna wait for player reviews and possible price drop before I think about getting it.

I was also on the boycott's side at first, but when I read what they were 'about' (sounded good in writing; was **** when put into practice) and what they were actually doing, I was immediately put off. They back up their claims of "VALVe ********" with viral videos and angry posts. What the **** is that going to do? It's going to make sensible and reasonable people like me want to buy L4D2 so I can metaphorically shove a stubbly carrot in the boycott's ***.

The reason L4D2 has more pre-orders is that they're cashing in on the hype from L4D, also Valve did promise free updates and all they could've made into updates they put into making a new game. That is whats ******* people off

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. If you're just finding out about L4D2, then you're way behind. And, the boycott is mentioned several times in this article, plus all over ModDB. It's also one of the largest groups on STEAM right now. It sounds like your joking, but I'm not sure.

Cause 2 million in preorders is guaranteed! Lol

Those are basically what you've been complaining about, but against your backwards world.

The fact that we have you all worked up like this only shows how well the boycott has been working.

Wow, amazing! AlCool even tried to demoralize this page. I believe this page was not made to defend valve. Instead it was to rip on the boycott for our amusement. But please AlCool, do go on. Your boycott is not only showing the effects of too much videogames for the young minds but it is also advertising the game to others. Im actually going to say thank you to you guys for telling me about this sequel. And yes I am very bored, as to why im posting on this website. Let the bitching resume!

I tried to demoralize the page? Look how long ago these posts were. Nobody probably even read them. This was their attempt to make us seem like we are living on a lie, which is completely wrong.

"Your boycott is not only showing the effects of too much videogames for the young minds" ironic isn't it?

Our boycott is showing how the consumers do not allow themselves to be walked on and taken advantage of. I'm surprised a man of "your" intelligence is on the side you are. I thought more people could understand the simple logic behind the boycott, or at least try to.

So what are you trying to achieve then? Our boycott is important enough for over 40 thousand people to be behind it, and for that same amount of people to withdraw from purchasing the game that is L4D2.

There is 10x that amount boycotting the AA series, quarter that boycotting the MW2 scene, and hundreds more groups that band together to express similar ideals, and voice their opinions on the matter.

We don't need to achieve anything to win our battle, although people like you think we do. We are important enough for valve to take more notice on us then on you.
