We all wear masks, from time to time, whether we care to admit it or not. Whether when we are nice to people on purpose, or when we which a good day to a person we do not like, or even when we pretend to respect religious beliefs, preferences or the opinions of another. Personally, the mask that I wear the most allows me to seem remotely interested in talking about the weather, which in all honesty is quite nauseating. But the masks aren’t only of a social nature. No! They go far deeper than that to the point of disconnecting our actions from our true selves. Even so, at the end of day when we are finally alone, we can become ourselves again. The masks disintegrate and we are able to recognize ourselves as we objectively are. Or maybe not… To what extent the masks that we wear daily don’t end up gluing themselves in such a way that they mold our faces to their image? To what extent don’t we wear masks in order to camouflage a deeper, more disturbing dissimulation of our own nature?
