Lucid Dreams Studio has begun its Kickstarter drive for “Solar Storm” their new space based rogue-alike adventure game.

Playing like FTL meets Lego, Solar Storm is a space rogue-alike adventure game which allows players to construct a vessel from various different components, and then launch it from Earth into the Solar System. Battling dangers such as pirates, meteorites and on-board ship failures, players are tasked with find the STS Hope, lost somewhere in the asteroid belt, and then bringing it home.

To support Solar Storms Kickstarter drive, Lucid Dreams Studios have also released a standalone demo called “Solar Storm: STS-96”. This is a tech and game demo, based around the first ever mission to Mars. Opposing this mission is the Great Filter Movement, who believe that to travel to another world will trigger the ‘great filter’, and destroy our planet. Players will get to experience the working mechanics of Solar Storm first-hand.

John Harrison, Head Programmer for Solar Storm, said: “After months of hard work, we’re so proud to be moving forward on our Kickstarter drive. It’s been such a long process of design and development that even to reach this point feels like an achievement. We’ve managed to meet our expectations and we’re hoping that people will see and enjoy what we’ve created.”

As they start their Kickstarter drive, Lucid Dreams Studios are eager that more people should discover the game they’ve created.

“We’re aware that crowdfunding is extremely competitive” said Kieran Mathers, creative lead at Lucid Dream Studios “and as a tiny indie publisher we’ll need all the help we can get. But we hope that, once people have seen our trailer and played our demo, they will be as excited as we are for what could happen if we are successful in our funding drive!”
