awesome you tried a blury effect, which shifts focus? for the transition

By the way that transition is made it seems kind of out of place if you wanted to interact with stuff on different layers ( for instance shooting at a ship in the distance ), but maybe you just made the player need to shift layer to interact with things on a specific layer?

But the transition still looks neat, though! xD
Have you tried making the transition with black?

I wasn't going to allow you to affect objects in other layers. You'll only be able to interact with things that are in the layer you're in. Things in other layers can only interact with other things in their layer as well.

That was far easier than I thought adding in the ability to travel further along. Even made a nifty transition effect.
