Rez Infinite is an on-rails shooter that seeks to unify its psychedelic visuals and rhythmic gameplay with its pumping electronica soundtrack. This is a high-definition remake of the original game, with 1080p visuals, 3D audio for VR, or 7.1 audio for home theathres.
Similar to how the original PlayStation 2 release of Rez offered a rumble pack to be placed on your seat while playing, Rez Infinite will be playable with a “synaesthesia suit” which you can strap into and contains a series of rumble motors at different points on the body. Only one of these will be made, and it’s only available at selected PlayStation demo events.
Kotaku went hands-on with the suit, and had this to say:
“When I targeted four enemies, I felt a buzzing, tingling sensation ripple across my arms and torso. In more frantic moments, bass was pulsing in my legs while my shots sent melody and rhythm through my arms. It felt like being on a buzzing dance floor, except the feeling was surgically targeted and my eardrums weren’t exploding.”
