As well as NPCs going about their own thing, you can now access a context sensitive radial menu by clicking on an NPC, where you will be able to ask them to join forces with you, give them orders if they are in your team, or ultimately trade with them or whatever else you may want to do!
NPCs will still make their own decisions, so make sure you make friends with loyal survivors otherwise they could leave you in the lurch when things get hairy.
We've also added a hotkey that provides a way for the player to call out, which can be used to attract NPC attention, or to attract zombies without using precious shotgun shells.
Additionally there are some new moodles, allowing your character to feel the effects of stress, boredom, unhappiness and anger.
With the icons at the bottom of the screen, you are able to choose the tone with which you will talk to people. When you are made angry by events, or perhaps rude lines of dialogue which tick you off, you may lose access to the friendlier dispositions until you calm down.
New traits allow you to be short tempered or patient, or a brooder who takes longer to calm down when made angry, and your general mood and stress levels will further effect how annoyed you get when being called an asshole. And as you can see from the video, talk to the wrong person while in a shitty mood and there can be quite dire circumstances.
This will make booze (if you're a happy drunk), reading materials and soon to be reintegrated cigarettes a much prized commodity in keeping you alive if you have a short fuse.

So I just played the demo three times.
The first time I crafted block sized barricades. and trapped myself in the upstairs bedroom and starved to death 2 days later.
The second time I crafted some of them and went to bed on my own skipping the proper missions and let myself starve to death 2 days later.
The third time I got the barricades right,set the house on fire while in the kitchen, burned my wife to death, then myself, then like 35 zombies by the front door, one day after start.
Best game ever.

yea theres soo much u can do. i survived 5days and eventually met my end in the top floor of the high rise running out of shot gun ammo
now I've also paid for it. I'd love to see a save & quit ability (not to save and reload when things go bad but to quit and return later)
The sooner you release the new version, the sooner I will spread the word about this game in my school.

u can save the game ??? becaus i cant..and i cant talk to survivors eather doe's that need's 2 happen for the update ?? and if it's posseble to save or talk to survivor's can u guy's tell me ?
go to their forums and you will find puplic test versions under anouncments. You require a desura key or an indie stone acount with pz to play them but you can find all the latest features just be prepared for bugs they are test versions.
i loved the end. facing off a mob of zombies with a hammer. all i can say is... priceless
:p i survived almost a month and i'll tell you you NEVER feel safe, keep hopping from house to house to avoid the horde, zombies keep breaking your doors and you get infected super easy... which is just you waiting till you turn... or kill yourself, i was so hoping to be able to OD on pills or alcohol but it didn't work yet.
