Though the page has since been removed, earlier last weekend the PlayStation Japan blog (via VRFocus) brought word that the PlayStation 4-exclusive racing game Driveclub would be coming to PlayStation VR as a launch title. This is not a port of Driveclub, however – instead, it’s a whole new game called Driveclub VR, and is exclusive to the PlayStation VR headset.
Paul Rustchynsky, who formerly worked on the title, mentioned via Twitter that new tracks would also be coming to Driveclub VR. Also, since Driveclub’s original developer Evolution Studios closed in March this year, it’s not known who is behind the development of Driveclub VR – but it’s likely some of the key team members of the original game who are now at Codemasters working on a new, unannounced title.

It’s unclear why the announcement was made via PlayStation Japan – rather than globally – and later taken down. It’s unlikely that this means Driveclub VR will be a Japan-exclusive PlayStation VR launch title – perhaps someone at Sony just jumped the gun. Either way, Driveclub VR will be out on PlayStation VR’s worldwide launch day of October 13 this year.
