Mirror of the version 0.5 of DATool DA:O modelling utility that was available from Bioware Social Network before its closure. Uploading as the other version of it on here is 0.1 and functions only as a model viewer, whereas this one also includes light model editing features.
The tool was made by Adinos from BSN. This upload is only for archival purposes so that such a handy utility is not nigh-unfindable for any future DA:O modders who missed out on the BSN days.
ORIGINAL README
DATool, beta version 0.5
========================
DATool is meant to be a model manipulation program. It is not yet finished, but is constantly
being improved.
I hope you find this program useful - if you do, please consider showing your support by going to the project page at Social.bioware.com and clicking on "Popularity".
------
The program is written in C# and uses DirectX, so it requires the C# .NET and DirectX redistributable to be installed. This should already be installed on any Vista or Win7 machines, but it might be missing on some XP systems.
If you get the message "DATool has stopped working", the most likely explanation is the missing DirectX files - in that case, look for "DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer" on Microsoft's web site.
This program also requires Dragon Age to be installed, but does not require the toolset (although it is kind-of pointless without it).
------
Run the program, select File->Browse models, and select any model category you like. You can browse the models with Ctrl-Right and Ctrl-Left, and zoom in/out with the mouse wheel.
You can play with the options setting (background, rotation speed, render mode and whether the bounding box is displayed)
Updated versions of this program are available at Social.bioware.com The program might be available elsewhere, but the BioWare Social site is the only site where I currently accept feedback and provide support.
----
Version 0.5 properly scales the collision shapes in the PHY file. The behaviour of "File->Save All" has also been changed, so that all texture files are saved - not just the diffuse texture.
