Bounded, a platforming experience created with Game Maker, has found its way to IndieDB.com!
I began working on Bounded during the winter of 2011, with the goal of actually completing a full game instead of getting half-way through and dropping the project. I wanted to create a game with a new twist on a recognizable pattern. The recognizable pattern is the ever-present style of independent games: the beloved platformer! My new twist was the a unique movement and control scheme: the protagonist bounds across the landscape, and it is the player's job to control the trajectory of each jump, using the arrow keys. This style of control gives the game a relentless and exciting pace.
The atmosphere is equally important as the controls, and I went for a feeling of desperation and slight horror. The colors and graphics were chosen to fit this goal. And anyway, who doesn't love the graphical combination of red, black, white, and a touch of gray?
I finished the game in early January of 2012, and posted it on YoYoGames.com. However, I have been disappointed with the lack of traffic the game has received, and I feel that YoYoGames has lost a portion of its support from the masses. Thus, I uploaded the full game here on IndieDB.com, with the hopes of a larger scope of recognition. I do this not only for my own sake, but also in the interests of the music artists on newgrounds.com whose soundtracks I included in Bounded.
So, please download and play Bounded! Any comments and feedback are appreciated, and I will answer any questions to the best of my ability.
A word to the wary: Bounded is not an easy game by any stretch of the imagination. It requires a dedicated player to fully complete the game, and such a player will find the experience rewarding.
