Sometimes I run into a game that's just pure, distilled, undiluted fun and Avalanche 2: Super Avalanche by Beast Games is exactly that. The premise is incredibly simple: climb the randomly falling blocks as high as you can... but as is usually the case, there's a bit more to it.

A wall of lava is steadily rising from the floor, there are snakes, birds and giant bosses out to get you, and there is a whole assortment of interchangeable power-ups to find and try. A happy atmosphere, great sprite art, solid controls, and catchy music will keep you coming back time and time again to see if you can beat your last score in this ever evolving, early version of Avalanche 2. Definitely worth a look and the few dollars it costs to buy a copy - give it a try!
