*************************Description:**********************************
The goal of this mod was originally to make the weapons behave more realistically. Since then, I have added other features that make the combat more realistic in general, including changes to the AI, mutants, armor, upgrades, effects upon getting shot, and many more things mentioned in the feature list.
NOTE: DIFFICULTY LEVELS DON'T CHANGE GUN COMBAT IN RCOM. They only help with other protections; mutants, radiation, anamolies, ect.
NOTE: For a full list of features, please read the "RCOM_for_Coc_v1_features.txt" file located in the same folder as this readme. For a change log of previous versions of RCOM, or if you want to read the readme's of any of the mods I have included, please see the "readmes" folder in the same location.
*************************INSTALLATION**********************************
Copy the the folders "gamedata" into your Stalker Call of Chernobyl installation directory.
When loading RCOM for the first time, you'll have to start a new game for the AI effects to take place properly. Before starting the new game, go to your options menu and toggle "Hardcore AI Aim" on or off. Turning it on or off will have the same effect in RCOM. This is make sure the RCOM aiming values take effect. You can also manually check the AI aim values are proper in the "user.ltx" file located in your CoC directory, under the "appdata" folder. They will be at the top of the file and should read...
ai_aim_max_angle 30.0
ai_aim_min_angle 2.0
ai_aim_min_speed 0.5
ai_aim_predict_time 0.32
...if your numbers look different, it might be from loading a save game from before you installed RCOM. Doing this changes the AI's ability aim at moving targets. They will be strange/buggy if you don't use these values, as the vanilla/default ones are intended for far less realistic ballistics.
I also suggest you set both iron site aiming and crouching to toggle mode, since you'll spend so much time aiming down iron sights and crouching behind cover than in vanilla.
So it's a beta version to find errors and crashes?
Yes, exactly. I don't think there will be many outright crashes, but the AI, economy, ect might need some slight tweaks before release.
Seems so. Haven't seen anything odd yet myself though.
I forgot to specify, but it’s for the lastesr ful elease of CoC, version 1.4x. I won’t make anything for 1.5 until it’s out fo beta.
install is just a copy and paste of the game data folder into the CoC folder.
After an hour of the game I can say a little about the AI. Sometimes NPCs are very stupid near but sometimes it's impossible to do stealth and one bug when you point the mouse at any armor then there are no 3 protection icons.
Thanks for the feedback. Do you feel like adding the stealth indicator bars back to the HUD help you analyze the AI detection better?
I'll look into the protection icons.
You can add. Maybe I'm so lucky that bandits quickly noticed me. In the usual CoC, you can easily come up and kill them. Today I will continue to play and for some reason I did not notice the new models of the NPC.
AI detection is actually worse in most regards than CoC. Let me know if you're still having issues after playing some more. I'll take a look into it AI detection.
