Half-Life: Source was never properly finished (default value damage triggers, black textures, looping/broken sounds, etc.), this Fix Pack attempts to finish the incomplete maps and make them function slightly more like in Half-Life 1, also fixes a few other small things.
These fixes are intended for Old Engine versions of the game (like Half-Life Source Legacy Collection version) since they are less broken than steam (New Engine), but almost all of these fixes also apply to the steam version.
If you're interested in what exactly i did check out 'Changelog' in the pack (i couldn't put it here since it's way too long). The Changelog list is for Old Engine version fixes so steam won't have some of them.
How to install (for older versions of the game):
- Optional: make a backup of your already existing 'maps' and 'cfg' folders ({game folder} -> hl1-> maps/cfg).
- Move the 'hl1' folder from the pack into your root game folder and replace all
- Done
how to install (for steam version):
- Optional: make a backup of your already existing 'maps' and 'cfg' folders ({game folder} -> hl1-> maps/cfg)
- Move the 'hl1' folder from the pack into your root game folder and replace all
- Open 'extra for steam version' in the pack and do the same thing with this 'hl1' folder
- Done
Some notes about steam version:
- If you have already started the game once before and auto created the config then the config from the pack won't lock the chapters and you'll have to do that manually from the console.
- Autoexec has 'ai_norebuildgraph 1' which is required for these maps to work, but this line also means that any other new maps which don't already have a node graph won't work and will cause ai_disable to turn on, in order to fix that 'ai_norebuildgraph 1' will have to either be changed to 0 in console or removed from the autoexec to generate them.
- I set Multi Core Rendering to disabled in the autoexec since it causes graphical glitches (command is 'mat_queue_mode').
If there are any problems or anything let me know.
Not bad, not bad...
