Sorry this took so long, but here is the fix for the game just staying as a blank, black screen. If this problem happens again, press alt+enter to force the game into windowed mode, which should fix it. If you want to go into windowed mode from within the game, there is a fullscreen button in the options menu which toggles fullscreen. Enjoy!
